It's been announced that this year's Hoptacular will return to the Aragon Ballroom on October 10th and 11th. They are indeed having a Bell's Homebrew Challenge.
It doesn't appear that they have a homebrew club signup yet. Does anyone remember how this works? Anyone on board for heading up this year's recipe once the ingredients are announced?
If we do anything this fall, we have to keep our rep by at least showing in this year's homebrew challenge!
I'm on board.
I see Brian Ferber that runs the Hoptacular pretty frequently around town at random beer events. I'll let him know that we want in when I see him.
Normally the murpheys get an email about it. Maybe Chuck get notified as well?
Is this going to be a whole club collaboration?
If so, do we get tickets, because that would be so sweet.
It will be a club collaboration but, just like anything else, not "whole." Just whoever wants in on it.
We do get free tickets, 2 if I remember correctly. And these have gone to the 1-2 people who really took lead on creating and brewing the recipe.
I want to place 1st this year!
Either the Murphys or I or both will be contacted.
For those who don't know about this contest, Hoptacular gives us the grain and tells us what we can and can not do. Last year they gave us 12lbs of RedX and said we could only use 1 hop, a SmaSh. We did a pretty awesome barrel aged Marzen that took 2nd.
Victory will be ours this year. There can be only one!!!!

I still have one bottle of our NARROWLY 2nd place beer...we should drink it.
