After many converstaions with folks about color, we keep coming back to 1A (sand dollar and black bean). I purchased paint and the light tan color goes down today.
I am working today, otherwise I'd be there. I was planning on Kegging tonight for Stout night... so I should be there by 6pm, if you are still there and need help.
Wes dropped off materials for the drink rail, wainscoting, and trim. We will not need help till after the materials are installed and we are ready to paint.
Schedule is not firmed up yet, but we are targeting this Thu - Mon for install, and it looks like we should be ready to follow up with painting and decorating next Tue - Fri.
That is looking amazing! Sorry I flaked out Sunday, I had a union meeting that got pretty serious and ended up running over by a few hours. I'll be sure to jump in the fray this weekend and do my fair share of labor though.

We are missing a part for the plumbing pipe legs for the drink rail. If anyone can acquire a 1-1/2 inch galvanized 4-way cross piece, that would be a huge help.

Bumping my previous post about the TV. Do we still want it in the brewhouse? I mean, TV is awesome but so is good old fashioned conversation.
The new TV is ready (a 47" VIZIO GV47L), I can bring it whenever we want with some advanced notice.
No stand, it'll need a VESA wall mount which I don't have. I had imagined the alotted budget would cover that, is there any budget left though? How should we go about getting this ordered? Might have to get a universal remote too, I havent found the original one yet.
From talking to people, it sounds like the consensus is to put it in the corner left of the bar. That seems like kind of an awkward spot to me, but I guess maybe we should just get the TV in the brewhouse and see what looks good.

Harbor Freight has some very inexpensive flat screen mounts ($20), let me know if you need it. Also, if you decide to mount it in front of the back bar mirror, we may have to make something custom---which isn't hard--just need different stuff. Let me know what you all decide, i can help.

The mirror behind the bar is the best sight line for everyone seated at the bar and drink rail. But I hate the idea of covering up the mirror. How about above the mirror? (image below)
That could work. For parties, it would be awesome to have slides detailing the specific aspect of the school series as well as the menu in a larger format.
I also agree about conversation, btw. It's not like we're getting a CHAOS cable subscription. I have a dusty OTA that worked well in my old apartment, but not so much my new one. That may be of use, but they're cumbersome rabbit-ears.
Something else to consider regarding the bar area is getting some shelf glass cut and tempered for the back bar (side mirrors) for glassess, merchandise for sale, etc. (i'll take some measurements and get a cost estimate.)
Just fyi, if it's visable through the window, we may get targeted for theft. I've had my place broken into and robbed before. It was not fun. Now that our club is looking nicer we run the chance of crime... When it was junky looking before no one bothered, but if they see a big flat screen tv in there in a nice room through the window, they may attempt to break in. I would be cautious about expensive visable items from the window... we may need to consider a window treatment to be proactive about that too. Just something to keep in mind as we upgrade.
I think the TV off to the sides of the bar is worse (image below). Right corner facing the bar has best sight lines, but the TV would look really awkward there. More room by the bathroom, but that blows the sight lines for people at one end of the drink rail.
Keeping the symmetry of the bar is critical, I don't think anyone would miss the red light above the mirror.
I would disagree, mounted in the northwest corner (window side) would be the best. The whole room can see the tv versus monted on the face of the bar where only if you are in front of it can ya see it.
I'd rather vote against a tv if it means butchering the bar by mounting to it.
As much as I understand the "don't block the bar" argument, I'm with Steven on this one: front and center up top would be most convenient, especially for presentations, party menus, etc. We should definitely cover that window up either way.

I agree that the window should be blocked or frosted or otherwise obscured. Also, regarding security, we found the security gate for the front door right? I'd like to see it permanently installed in the front with a combo lock with the same code as the rear.
I really really like the idea of a TV though. I think it vastly expands the social aspect possibilities. I agree music and conversation should be the normal focus of things, but it would be nice to be able to have, say, a super bowl bottle share/grilling, or Stanley cup finals, or sunday football, election results, or anything. Folks love going out to bars to watch games and stuff, I really like the idea of having the option to go to my own bar with my own beer and food and friends. Makes the experience vastly cheaper and more enjoyable, and could be a potential selling point as well to new members.

I'm going to make a cardboard mock up and see how this really fits. The northwest corner has great sight lines, but a large panel jutting out over the top corner of the bar is going to look weird. Maybe there is an angle to the dangle that will work...?...
I can't tell for sure, but there's a big seam that goes all around just the panel where the middle mirror is. It seems to me like we could just remove that part, carefully protect it with some moving blankets, and store it flat on top of the ferm room. I know we don't want to butcher the nice bar that was graciously donated, but I don't think disassebling a removable panel would count for that.
Otherwise, my next vote is to have it above the window. Not in that corner, but actually above the window, basically at the end of the bar. I know we were thinking about barrel staves up there, but honestly I think there's plenty of wood in that room already and we should just paint the top plywood section in the same taupe color whether we put the TV up there or not.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the impression that the bar top/mirror is not too securely attached to the rest of the bar, if at all. It may really destabilize things if we mount a tv to the top of it.
i'm sure that i could figure out a way to secure and mount the tv above the back bar mirror without damaging the back bar if it ever needs to be removed.
How about one of those mounts that swing out? We can have it flush against the wall when not in use then swing it out to dangle when we need it. Or even better, we could hide it behind a panel of barrel staves. Have the stave panel slide on a track or swing on a hinge to open to reveal the TV, which could then be pulled out and angled correctly...
That's some fancy hobo craft Joe. A sliding panel might be too much, but the wooden stave panel would help integrate the TV into room visually (hides the edges, pops out less.)
I think we're close to a solution. I'll mock up an accurate scale view of the corner and above the window.
And a centered option for theose of us that get it.
I'm a vote for above the window flush against the north wall on the stave band; vertical staves on either side of it like we had planned and then horizontal staves cut to fit above/below the TV if the TV dooesn't quite cover the entire height of the plywood band. This would kinda blend it into the space as we had envisioned it. Plus, there's no way to see it through the window if it's above the window on that wall.
1. Instead of a chrome cast I can plug a rasberry pi into it. It has full functionality of a computer, so wifi and you can watch netflix, surf web, run presentations, play old school videogames, and etc. No need to attach to another computer. Only runs about $50 and I'll set it up.
2. We can replace those lights with color changing LED strips, which I'd be happy to help with, if there is an interest. Then it can be whatever color you'd like.

Pete has a cracked chrome stick that will get us everything over the web.
Location, The corner between the bar and window or the opposite corner on the bathroom wall. Anything mounted on the bar looks horrible to me.

There is a really cheap glass shop on 47th and Ashland. I mean really cheap so cheap I can't see how they have stayed in business!

47" is almost 4 feet.... It will swallow up the bar. I think it would be better in the corner above the window.

While we're throwing down some Raspberry pi, why not just get the flow metered taps and set up a digital tap list? :) Mostly kidding, of course.
