If you are going to be in the

If you are going to be in the chicago city proper, here would be my list of beer related places to hit up.

  1. Revolution - Brewery/Pub - Crown amongst local brewers
  2. Goose Island Clybourn - Brewery/Pub - You know it
  3. Half Acre - Tap Room
  4. Haymarket - Brewery/Restaraunt
  5. Hopleaf - Restaurant with excellent beer selection, lots of hard to find Belgium
  6. Emporium - Beercade (pinball with classic video games, good draft list)
  7. Local Option - Brewery/Pub - Decent beers, but great guest list (Homeslice near by for the best non-chicago pizza)
  8. Atlas - Brewery/Pub - Good, but not as good as rev or goose imo
  9. DryHop - Brewery/Pub - Small and new but quite good
  10. Beermiscuous - Bar/Bottleshop - Great selection of bottles, small draft list
  11. Binnys - Liquor store bigger than a walmart.  Must go to see it, lincoln park and south loop locations have tasting rooms with excellent selections
  12. Lone Wolf - Pub - Serving almost only 3 Floyds beer, next door to Au Cheval (rated 1# buger in country last year)
  13. Chaos - Summer BrewBBQ Event - You should time your trip around our summer party

Local Brewies to shop for (my favorite in parens):

  1. Off Color (Fiece - Yuzu Berlinerwiess)
  2. Marz (Jungle Boogie - Pale wheat ale with Roobis tea)
  3. Revolution (Anti-Hero - Or <anything>-Hero like GalaxyHero, CitraHero, etc)
  4. 3 Floyds (Zombie Dust, Amber Smash Face, all of them pretty good)
  5. BrickStone (APA)
  6. 18th Street Brewing
  7. Mikerphone

I am sure I am forgetting a ton of great places too, but this should be a good list to start on your chicago beerducation.

Cheers!

The only one Grizwold failed

The only one Grizwold failed to mention is the Maproom, which is just a great beer bar, with a pretty heavy belgian focus, and Maria's which is the home of Marz brewing. Also Vice...

Also, keep an eye on our schedule as well, we'd love to have you stop by our community brewhouse and have you tell us about the brewing scene in Nebraska and share with you some of the brews our members are working on.

Oh man how could i forget

Oh man how could i forget Lauganitas.  They are a local brewey now, and there is a lot of local made stuff that they do not bottle/can distribute including their new up and coming sour program.

I totally agree on Map Room.  It is a great locals type pub as well.  No food, but always a great draft list.
