At last night's club-only Dubbel competition, John Gammal's beer was chosen as the top entry. Sean Conway's beer placed second and Mike Struck's was judged third. Congratulations! John's beer will be brewed at Gino's East, the sponsor of the competition. Stay tuned for more info!
Thanks to everyone who entered the competition - I enjoyed every beer I tried last night!
And special thanks to the folks who volunteered their time to judge - James Lews, Bob Brown, Bill Goetz, Brock Boland, and Noah and Kevin from Gino's. Mark Haar and Jim Chochola stewarded last night and Jim was also the lead organizer for the competition, working with Gino's East. Great job, everyone!
Congrats, guys!!
Awesome job! Whooo!!!
Looking forward to trying the winning beer at Gino's, John should bring some of the original so we can compare.
It was fun participating, and the judges notes were really informative. The bottle share was really cool and made the whole expereince very educational, great try a bunch similar beers and share recipes and techniques.
Thanks to everyone that put this together!
Congrats to all the winners, and a big thanks to both Jims and everyone that helped with the event. I agree with Steven it was a fun event and very informative. Hopefully in either late feburary or march we can have everyone that brewed the dubbel bring a couple bottles to the club and we can see how much these beers have changed.

Totally! Try and save 3 bombers if possible. Everyone did such an amazing job with this contest and it was so much fun to participate with all of you brewers. They were all really creative, delicious beers. Kevin from Gino's east said he's thinking of tentatively making it in February. If all works out, maybe we can do it there. Either way, thanks to the Jim's for putting this together!!
You bet! I loved the vibe during the whole event but esp. during the announcing of winners!
I'll let you guys know what the next recipe is as soon as I find out from Kevin and Noah. Stay tuned...!
Love the expression on John's face as he finds out he won.
Congrats Mike, Sean, and John!
Great photo, Mark! Thanks for sharing!
