brew N grow anniversary sale

I wouldn't normally advertise for BnG, but this seems worth putting up.

15 percent off everything today, 25 off carboys and yeast.  That is all.  Shop there today and then no other day of the year.

We stopped by tonight to get

We stopped by tonight to get the 2-row for the group stout brew and it is indeed a very nice set-up.  Customer service was better than the kedzie location imo and we let them know that.

We have built a pretty decent

We have built a pretty decent relationship with Brew Camp.  On the other hand, although I've spoken with the guys in there more than a few times, I don't quite remember what their brew experience is (maybe someone else who knows them better can chime in on that one).  That having been said, however, they are really, really nice guys and will try to get you what you want if they don't have it.  Plus, you can buy grains in the exact quantities you need (unlike B&G where you have to buy the set packages).  Last, but not least, Brew Camp has some stuff I haven't seen at B&G, e.g., a kit which is all-grain rather than extract and which is only a gallon or so big (9 bottles, I think it said).  Never seen a "beginner's kit" without extract; this gets you brewing all-grain right from the start.

Yeah, Minneapolis seems to

Yeah, Minneapolis seems to have a plethora of homebrew stores...

I'm really shocked that Chicago has pretty slim pickings when it comes to brick and mortar homebrew shops..

Theri Bolingbrook location

Theri Bolingbrook location has a guy that works there that knows alot and he will talk to you...he was a brewer at goose island and RAM for a while...however..

They have a limited selection and they are closed on Sunday! I mean seriously?  you own a business that caters to hobbyists and your closed on a weekend?  when everyone is enjoying brewing on the weekend.. I really try and throw my money at local business...but sometimes it's just easier to mailorder...I know I will get what I need and rarely have to make a substitution...

I wish we had a Midwest Supply here in Chitown...that place is like walking into Sam's Club for brewing...Ironically the two guys that own it are from Chicago...

Hey, my main problem is just

Hey, my main problem is just that in my past experiences of the last year (prolly been in there 8 times or so at least) people are either condescending or too blazed to help.  If they're sober they're just condescending and short with you.  The girl that works there has always been nice to me, but that's about it (and by nice I mean offering me a beer sample before I unloaded 80 bucks at the counter).  That, and they're a little bit pricey.

Can you elaborate on your

Can you elaborate on your negative review of BnG? I've only been there a few times, but always found what I needed.

Some of the people who work there, though, have no clue about making beer. I wouldn't care, but some of them act like they're Sam Caglione, and in reality don't have a damn clue!
