This looks awesome. ANYONE can enter. Looks like you can enter as many beers as you want; you can even enter your crappiest beer ever!
Basically two 10-14 oz. bottles constitutes an entry; $7/entry. Entries can be dropped off at a number of locations (including Brew & Grow on Kedzie/Addison or at Haymarket itself) between October 10th-21st.
We all should take a shot at it!!
Find attached the information (including official entry labels for your bottles and an entry form).
I called Haymarket and asked if there was any to-do happening this afternoon. The guy I spoke with had to put me on hold and ask someone (so, I already assumed it wasn't something big otherwise all the employees would know). When he came back to the phone he said that judging should be done around 3:00 but it could be later; that they'd hand out awards/ribbons/metals but he also added, "I wouldn't kill yourself to get down here." So, it doesn't sound like there's anything big happening. I may stop by nevertheless just to represent.
just report back the details

Thanks for checking, Andrew.
If that's the case, I may get there around 3:00/3:30ish to knock back a pint and see who wins.
I plan on going to the actual event, yes. Although I only skimmed the entry form/event info, I don't think it said any times; it merely said "October 29th." Maybe Haymarket Pub web-site has the actual times.
i dropped off my yack-0-lantern, anyone going to the event itself?

Humph. Didn't get around to it. Oh well.
just dropped off my bottles..........3 entries..........1 ipa, 1 maibock, and 1 octoberfest...........ran out of german lager so no entry there. This is my first competition also...here goes nothing
This is the first ever "competition" I'm entering and I don't know if bottles should be cold upon delivery or are they going to refrigerate the bottles for an appropriate amount of time before tasting. Does it matter?
i happen to have a pretty bad pumpkin ale.

Check out that link......i have done it that way and it still held co2 3 months later. I do add the step of purging the bottles with co2 before filling to prevent any oxygen pickup........i can show you guys when we bottle the punk rock
It is. Lager Dan has the equipment.
Is it possible to bottle from a keg without losing the carbonation? There might be 2 12 ouncers of my pumpkin ale left in Dave's keg.
If people are going to enter, they have until Friday to drop off entries at designated spots! So, don't tarry!
Im in ......i will be able to enter 4 catagories ...german lager/maibock/ipa/octoberfest.....gonna bottle and turn in on friday....nice find jim
That would be great if we had a good representation from the club. We need to start an awards wall in the new brew house....but we should work on winning some awards first probably. THen, we'll make a wall. Im gonna try and bottle some brews tomorrow or Wednesday night.
MMMmmMMMM. Delish!
Do it!
I think I'm going to enter the IPA I brought to the last meeting. I don't think anything else I have will win either the worst or best beer...
haunted archer avenue ale! Woohoo!
