so, equipment specific to each brew bay is forthcoming. I know there more metal sheets in the yard which are chaos', maybe we can make similar tables for each brew bay using those metal tops.

I don't know how well paint would do on the sink station or brew bay tables, oftentimes kettles are rested on top straight from the burner.. This would probably not only burn the paint, but create issues on the bottom of the brew kettles...
ah. okay. any other way we can protect the wood?

paitnt def wouldnt keep. id have to find out about stain and isolated heat...probably a non issue. but stain does need time to cure, so consider that you may need a day off from the brewhouse.

In addition to being easily moveable and more clearly define each brew bay, the metal tops are easy to wipe/clean.
I'm willing to build the other three.
The idea of adding sheet-metal to the tops of tables sounds like a great one to me, I'm always making a huge mess of the wood and getting it clean takes some effort.

i think i have more of those metal tops at work. i like them. we just need to build sturdier stands for them. i would be all for the uniformity.

Actually, if the grain room walls are coming down for the storage build-out, are they the right size? Could I/we simply repurpose those?
I'm bumping this up for a couple reasons which became apparent yesterday while brewing. In no particular order:
(1) Although stuff is labeled and yet there was equipment scattered among all the brew bays. e.g., #4 hose on #3 autosiphon; #4 lighter in #1 bucket; #4 thermometer in #1 bucket. If all brew bays had exactly the same equipment, this wouldn't be a problem. No one would prefer X from bucket #1 and accidentally replace it in bucket #4.
(2) You can't have electronic thermometers in buckets with no holes. The electronic thermometer in #4 was sitting at the bottom of the bucket in water (I don't think it's working anymore); electronic thermometer in #3 wasn't even in a brew bay bucket, it was in the small, grey bucket with the dish sponges! What are people's thoughts on those long, metal thermometers with a clip for the side of the pot? Those are water proof and you don't have to sit there and hold it in the water...
A seperate Bottling Table would be nice since table talk is being bumped. There is also only one Wine Theif, not sure if we want one per station bucket.
In a separate thread I offered to build four tables for each of the four brew stations. Perhaps the metal table near the door can be repurposed for the bottling/kegging station (as well as, perhaps, a misc. work station). But, all this is ultimately up to the Brewhouse Committee.

I actually prefer the metal probe thermometers over the electronic ones.
