Today Gustavo, Jeff and myself brewed a recipe for the BJCP class and it put an idea into our heads. Twice a year have a Brew Club Shootout, where 3 members come together and brew a recipe that is served at one of our member events. Winner is decided via members & attendees and given a Stenley Cup-esc trophy that names are engraved and passed on to the next winners.
Thinking is that persons that are interested would be placed in a random drawing and teams would be selected as such. Winners get the trophy and bragging rights till next said event. I'm guessing that the winning team could stay together to defend their honor, but it would be a cool way to get our brewers collaborating in an interesting way and also allow ourselves to learn different techniques, brewing styles, etc.
Just an idea, for us today it was a very cool experience not only brewing but also picking eachother's brain via email leading up to brew day that I think many members would appreciate.
