CHAOS Fall Party 11/02/13 - Beer List

As soon as the new brewhouse has burners burnin, we need to start producing some Harvest Ales for the Fall Member Appreciation Party, Saturday November 2nd, 2013. Keep in mind you can make Cider anywhere anytime, so you cider lovers should jump on it NOW.

Here's the link to the spreadsheet for entering your Cider or Beer:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AoHPHJoD8W9tdGRBNFBKSWppTlJ...

The last two Fall Member Parties have been very Cider focused with a Harvest Hootenany vibe (hay bails, bluegrass bands, etc.).

This year we have decided to take on Halloween and go with a HAUNTED BREWHAUS concept. There was a good deal of concern about avoiding competition with other Halloween events, so we decided to shoot for the Saturday after Halloween.

I will follow up with a more detailed call for volunteers and food.

For those of you that

For those of you that recently harvested shares of the CHAOS barrel beers drained a couple weeks back, PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING SOME OF YOUR BARREL AGED BEER!!!

Considering we have just moved and have a bunch of new expenses, we all really need to pull together to make the Fall Member Party a big success. If each barrel brewer gives up a gallon, we should be able to pull together an amazing addition to our beer list.

Please hold your barrel aged stouts for the Winter Member Party (Stout & Chili Night in January.)

Whoa, props to Ken Getty for

Whoa, props to Ken Getty for embracing the Halloween tie-in. Cereal Killers: Beers inspired by kids cereal... It's even funnier when you realize Ken likes serializing his beers (remember the single pepper series?)

Anyhow, it sounds like our haunted house ringer is unavailable, and I'm hesitant to tackle Halloween half-assedly. It doesn't seem like we have enough people on board for a Fright Night.

An easier route is to continue the cider friendly harvest theme.

Thoughts?

I say scrap the Halloween

I say scrap the Halloween theme if we have to do it ourselves. call it a Fall party & any fall beer or cider is welcome. I'm going to start 10g of cider this wknd due to limited brew time. Will update the sheet

I thought I might have found

I thought I might have found an interesting compromise with Fork & Stein Oktoberfest, but my girlfriend replied, "No, please God, no..."

I'm looking to brew a red ale and divide it up and try some different spice infusions.

If someone is willing to

If someone is willing to bottle my Flanders, I will donate the large share to the fall party. I only ask for a few btls to be set aside. A few for you and a couple for me.

I'll take you up on that offer Dave.  I have to bottle soon anyways & I have enough bombers to take care of your Flanders as well.

Hey gang, beer list looks

Hey gang, beer list looks real swell.
Any more barrel aged offerings?
Give it up for the club brewsters!

So, I just learned today that Daniel's haunted house friend is willing to set up his freak show, and they have brewed another Hallow's Eve inspired ale. We just need to provide a van to get him and his stuff onsite Fri Nov 1.

I was willing to pass on the Halloween tie-in if we didn't do it right, but we have ready made decor and assistance. And, let's face it, the brewhouse is probably 3 months away from being truly presentable, so why not pick a popular party theme that takes advantage of the chaos?

Also, our last brewhouse was violently destroyed just this week. Think about it, we have literally risen from the rubble to begin anew. With this is mind, I propose:

REQUIEM FOR A BREWHOUSE
{ CHAOS NEVER DIES }

Instead of trying to kill ourselves to make the new brewhouse look all put together, we can have fun with the rough edges and cover up shit we don't have time to deal with, and I think it's worth honoring our old space while celebrating our new home.

This doesn't mean we pass on good harvest inspired drink and food (no bowls of crap candy needed.) People do not need to dress in costume, but it would be hysterical if our bartenders are zombie brewers.

I'll work up the poster.

I regret to inform you all

I regret to inform you all that I will be unable to attend Harvest Fest. I will be bottling the braggot and I will bring plenty to the next event I'm able to attend. I'll update the spreadsheet when I can get to a proper computer. Sorry again, I was really looking forward to it. I'll start planning my stout night beer soon.

We have a couple of beers

We have a couple of beers listed from "Tower Brewing".

Tower Brewing:  "Corgan"
Strong Scotch Ale, Pumpkin
James Sulzberger, Nestor Curiel, Paul Marks

Tower Brewing:  Cyser
Cyser brewed with clover honey, cider, raisins, dates, cardamom, and cinnamon.  Aged 1 year.
James Sulzberger, Abby Graefe

I can't find the brewer names on our membership list. Is this a donation from a brewery?

If this is a fantasy brewery run by club members using assumed names, I'm cool with that. However, if you are a legit brewery, or soon to be legit, I will put y'all in the pro section.
