So I recently have had two infections and I believe it is due to my buckets holding on to bacteria. So I'm looking to start clean with new buckets and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good source for them and/or would be interested in doing a group buy?

Buying Buckets
Just got a response, $12 for 6 gallon buckets and lids. Brew and Grow's site list their regular price at $12.50 for the same thing. I've sent them an email and am waiting for a response.
I was just in Brew Camp yesterday and they said they would do a discount on a bulk order of buckets. I sent the owner an email about pricing and I'll get back to people when I hear from him.
Maybe we could call up brew and grow and see if we could get a discount by buying up 20-30 buckets all together?
depending on the bucket type and price, i would do 2-3 as well.
Yeah I was hoping with a bulk buy of some sort we could at least get a discount from somewhere. I'm probably looking for 6-10 buckets as well.
I would be down for purchasing 6 of the wine buckets with lids if we can get a cheaper price...
No worries. Let me know if you want any help on that large batch of sour. I'd love to contribute 5 gallons.
I was hoping to do a huge batch of a sour sometime in the next few months so that and kombucha is where the buckets will probably be going since I'm hoping to score a wine barrel soon. Depending on how long you want them for I would let you borrow them.

Drew I am looking to start brewing some more sours soon. If you aren't planning on hanging onto your possibly infected buckets I would be interested in buying them off you. Let me know.
Yeah I just bought new hose and auto siphon and have them separate so it hopefully wont happen any more.

yeah. For the sour stuff we do at the BrewHouse, we keep separate everything. buckets, carboys, funnels, spoons, sample thiefs, etc. It is way to easy to cross contaminate.
The ones that are bad are only 5 months old from morebeer. I think the lids on them weren't as nice as the one I have from Brew and Grow and we do kombucha and sour kraut in the apartment as well which might have affected them. I was looking into us plastics but their shipping makes it not worth it.

I like those too...the gasketed larger buckets. How old were your buckets. If you are careful when cleaning and making sure that you sanitize well, buckets generally have a pretty long life.
Last time I was there they only had bottling buckets. I was hoping to buy a bunch but wasn't sure where is cheaper since homebrew shops tend to jack up their prices even on things that are available elsewhere.

I use the wine buckets from Brew & Grow... Never had a problem with them. Lids have rubber seals on them, and you also have more headspace on a 5gal batch with these since they're almost 8gal capacity.
