Okay, here are the choices you can vote for based on the brainstorming: I will end the voting this Friday, March 9th at noon so make sure you get your vote in before the deadline. Whatever receives the most votes will be the beer that we fill the barrel with.
- Giant Stout
- Vanilla Stout
- Stout with fruit (Bramble Rye)
- Barley Wine
- Imperial Brown Ale with Honey
talked to Kevin and Bill. Bill is letting me take over his barrel and I'm going to draw up a recipe for Bourbon County (have already been working on it, doing a test batch of it tomorrow). I'll make a post in the barrel section, if you're interested sign up officially there. There's already 30 gallons taken up.
As a fair warning, this is going to be a massive, pain-in-the-ass beer to brew. The first draft of the recipe is 27 lbs of grain... 1.129 OG and 1.040 FG. I want to get this beer done quickly so we can try and barrel it before having to clean out the barrel. If we work fast we can skip that stage and really maximize the flavors we get from the barrel instead of leaching them out.
I think Kevin is drawing up an Imp Honey Brown ale recipe for his, which I'm excited about.
