There are too many things going on in CHAOS now for everyone to keep up on, and find out about, them him/herself. A newsletter would allow members to keep up on stuff like improvements to the brew house, events (past and future), the barrel aging program, opportunities to play a bigger part in CHAOS, &c.
Are there any writers among us who would be willing to take on a monthly newsletter?
What I'm envisioning:
- newsletter would go out every other month (6 times per year);
- anyone and everyone would get photos and info to you by a certain date;
- you would write up the newsletter which includes blurbs on the info and photos received;
- you would then submit it back to me in MS Word format for final review before I convert it to PDF and pass it on to David or Iggy to be sent out via "blast" e-mail to all of CHAOS.
WOW! I just got a sneak peak at the new web-site Lucas et al. are putting together and it is freakin' cool!
I like your idea even more (call outs on the main page and then include some/all in a newsletter). I'm hoping we can include ALL items in a newsletter and then send it to every registered user's snail mail address (so that members have a nice, organized, all-in-one-place newsletter in their inbox rather than having to go to the site).
I like that idea.
We should also make it available on the "splash" page (or whatever page people DO NOT have to register for). That way, people can see what cool stuff we're up to without registering for the site.
This is also something that we should ensure we integrate with the new website. In the new format there's a main page with content stories and other items that would be cool to call out. Maybe we have people update the website and then on a regular basis take the ones we like and make the newsletter? Just my $0.02.

There used to be a newsletter and I'm sure David could give you the couple there had been. But, you don't have to follow that format/look, you'd be free to do whatever you want with it.
Good question. I was thinking someone do it in just plain ol' MS Word and then send it to me. I would then convert it to PDF and send it on to Iggy/David for mass blast.
I'm revisiting this thread because now more than ever I'd like to get news out (e.g., Jessica Murphy just took "Best in Show" at Haymarket Pub's Beer Fly Alley Fight; David and Kyle just poured at the Mash Tun event). It would be really cool for everyone to see what everyone else is doing!
