I am planning on filling my Bourbon Barrel with a Wee Heavy aka a Scotch Ale. This will be loosely based off of Founder's Dirty Bastard and more so in hope of approaching the style of their barrel aged version (Backwoods Bastard). The recipe is posted below. For now please reply if you are interested in brewing a batch for this. I will needed between 11-12 5 gallon batches. I will buy the specialty grains and hops. You will be responsible for yeast and base grains. Once I have enough people signed up I will order everything and set dates for brewing and filling. Let's get this Ol' Dirty Bastard filled!

I'm in for five gallons.
you could also ask for payment beforehand to place the order. I'm sure plenty of people would be willing to go ahead and pay.
Thats a good point. If you would be willing to let me buy the amount of chocolate needed that could help. I will recalculate the hops and grains minus the caramel and chocolate and see if I can do it.
You could wait for the bulk buy to come in. I have some chocolate that I have coming in. I think we both have portions of C80 coming too.
Sorry I have been dragging my feet on this. 1 reason is the high cost of ordering all the specialty grains and hops for this one is going to be quite expensive to front off the bat until everyone pays me back. I didn't realize the total would be so much and I am short on funds for this at the moment so I was considering having everyone get their own stuff. We also still need 3 more brewers. Thoughts?
Yup thanks!
Kyle, I'll brew 5 on this if there is still room
Just gonna have everyone get their own Munich.
I won't do that but I'd be willing to buy the remainder of the sack after it's been split out to everyone... So, if it takes a total of 36 lbs of munich, that would leave me with 19 that I would pay for. It's up to you. Let me know.
No I didn't. I was gonna make everyone supply their own munich and all the others are only gonna be like 12lbs at the most. If someone else wants to get a sack of munich and sell 3lbs each to everyone brewing this that would be cool.
We have 40 gallons signed up so far. We need 4 people or 20 gallons more. I plan on ordering all the specialty grains and hops next week. Once I get them we can get to brewing.
Ya but I haven't ordered anything yet. I will tell everyone when to start brewing when I get all the stuff ordered.
I'll brew a scotch ale yo! put me down!
Iggi I'm signing you up as a sure thing. Tough.
im a definite maybe. buying fermentation vessels is making me go broke...
...igz...
The munich malt as well.
We need more people to brew for this. Step your game up! I plan on ordering the hops and specialty grains soon, who else is gonna claim a batch?
I'm in for it for 5 gallons.
Who else is in for this brew? We have 5 people (including myself) so far and need at least 6 more. Get on board homies!
I'm in! I'd highly encourage everyone to use UK pale as opposed to Canadian or American. There's a huge taste difference.
Hahaha, nice! Look forward to it.
Yes, I was brewing this recipe as a test batch that day. I'll count you as in! Ya you can borrow it, but you have to throw it across the room first.
Is this the same beer you brewed when we did the olde ale? I'd be down to brew it. You think I could borrow you thermometer?? ;)
Ah good catch Dave, I will update now. Ya I agree with 156 compared to 152. If you and Bill are in we have 15 gallons so far (me included. Who else wants to get down???
Also we lowered the hops by an ounce.....2oz each for the 15 and 5 min additions. This was because the hop ibu didnt change much and aroma portion of hops wouldnt last long during the aging portion.
I think mash temp should be higher...156. Sign me up, I'd like to brew for this.
Yes 1 step mash. Yes I would prefer it to be UK Pale. Yes I have zero people signed up so far. If you would like to brew this please reply with your confirmation.
