Thanks David! We will probably just take our leg to the space directly since we live so close, but if you are volunteering to pick up the legs that is awesome. If you need help let me know.

Everyone who has brewed a beer for this event: please let us know what you brewed so Steven can get started on the signage. Just a friendly reminder. :)

if people want to drop off

if people want to drop off their brews at the brew house, Jut throw a label on it saying for brew springsteen and stick in in the ferm room so that it stays at a good temp.  Im sure i can fit all the cornies into my SUV.

On another note...I tested the jockey box with the help of Kyle today.  I only built one side....because I wanted to make sure that it would work/operate properly before bending another 50 ft of ss tubing into a coil.  The box worked well.  We didnt have a warm corny to try, but we did run a warm keg of star san through and it cold very nicely.  I'll work on getting the other coil made this week and get everything connected.  As it stands currently we have two taps.  Surprisingly there is enough room for probably 2 more coils in the cooler I purchased. We could probably do 4 taps in the future...or if someone has a line on cheap SS tubing before the event.  For now we will have two.  We can also use the tubs and ice too if we need to serve more

A valid concern Bill! If you are attending the event you can pick it up there. Otherwise David and I (or someone else with a car) can pick them up and take them to the brew house after the event. How does that sound? Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks Tommy! And, I just learned, that April 7th is international session beer day so go you! On second thought, it may be best if everyone can arrange to have their beers at the event location by 1 pm. For those that don't have a car, you can let me know whether it will be at the brew house and I can pick it up. We can discuss further at the 4/1 meeting.

That's a good question.

That's a good question. Perhaps you can drop off at the brew house and Dave or I can pick up and take to the space? Let me know what works best for everyone.
Also, Steven has graciously agreed to do signage. Can everyone please provide a name and short description of the beer? Please include style and ABV. I'll go first:

Brewers: Christopher & Jessica Murphy
Beer: Imperial Assassin, single-hopped Simcoe imperial IPA.
ABV: 9%

Also, so far I have me, Chris, David, and Steven Lane as helping out on the beer line. I'm thinking that should be enough. If you are planning to attend I would suggest that you buy tickets as they are almost sold out. I wish I could get everyone who brewed a beer comped but I couldn't. However, we will be receiving so money after the fact for materials so we can divide some up for those that had to buy tickets. We can discuss that later. Let me know if you have any questions. Can't wait for this!!!

Bill, any of those

Bill, any of those suggestions sound awesome! That Blonde sounds exceptionally good!

Bill said:

as you all know, I'm a little slow thus I have finally gotten around to reading this thread.  I'd like to contribute 5 gallons also if that's ok.  Just let me know what is needed.  I have 10 gallons of a big IPA that will be kegged next Monday.  I have 5 gallons of my "Witty Bisexual Belgian Blonde" that I was planning on bottling but could also keg for the event.  I can make something else if you need me to.  Is it too early in the season for a Hefeweizen?  That's a quick turnaround beer.  Talk to me!

Hi everyone! Won just sent

Hi everyone! Won just sent out an email and thought I'd share it. It seems that crowd control is a biggee this time around so it you have friends that want to go, tell them to get tickets! Chris and I brewed our entry this past weekend, and I'm thinking if we have a total of 6 beers and 2 or 3 people helping we should be golden!

Hey Brewers!

Here is the final flyer that will be used for the upcoming Brew Springsteen.

A FEW THINGS:

We are doing presales this time around so that we can regulate numbers. 250 is going to be our max (we couldn't secure the other room)

- If you have friends that want to attend, they HAVE to purchase tickets before hand. This will also eliminate flakes, which the world can use less of.

- There are 12 brewers this time so space will be a little tight but manageable so keep that in mind when deciding which beers to bring. I'd say no more than 4 styles.

I will send out another email as we get closer to the event such as dropping shit off the day before, food, guest list, etc.

Any questions, please ask!

Won

I doubt this will be the one

I doubt this will be the one and only event of this kind CHAOS will be doing. Maybe we can make the investment in the jockey box as a club? Store it at the brew house and use it at our own events as well as events off-site?

Anyone have a cooler they can donate?

Kyle, I love that idea! Do that! I will mark you down as a contributor! Chris and I are toying with two ideas... We were thinking of doing a double Bitter Govt Employee (and calling it Postal Worker) or a double simcoe pale ale... Maybe we'll brew both and see which one is better...

I have been brewing my own Kombucha recently and have done some research on blending it with beer. I would love to brew a belgian pale ale blended with kombucha for the event. It would be tart and refreshing. Goose Island's Fleur is what I would be shooting for. What do you guys think?

Well, I just wrote out everyone that wants to contribute and I think we will be ok with 5 gal/person. However, if you want to contribute 10 gal, I would say do 2 separate beers. We may also want to think about tshirts, stickers, etc. we can sell or give away.

Haha! Love the name, Tommy!

Haha! Love the name, Tommy! Sounds great, I say if each of us does a 5 gal batch (or 2) we should be good. If you can do 2 batches, that would probably be better. Having been at the last event, some people ran out of beer. I think if we stagger them like we did for ides and stout night (start with 3 beers and then add on more as the others run out)would be best. What do you guys think?

David, I would love if you would help set up as I am pretty much keg illiterate. I'm getting better, but it is slow going... I would also love to pour beer, if that's cool.

OK, we are confirmed! I just

OK, we are confirmed! I just put my email on the main list from Chef Won Kim to cut down on confusion. The first email just went out and I am posting it below. Some cool things? Jared Rouben from GI Clybourn is a guest brewer and the club will receive a stipend of $150 for ingredients. So, can i get a list of people who want to contribute beers? Chris and i will contribute one.
So excited for this!

What up brewers.

First off, let me thank you for agreeing to participate in the upcoming Brew Springstein. It will be 4/7, 2-7pm @ the Variable Space in Wicker Park.

Secondly, let me apologize for giving you a really tight schedule for the brewing process.

There were a few reasons for deciding on 4/7. First off being that the original date is Darklord day which some of you expressed concern about so I switched it.

I wanted to keep this momentum going especially with all of the other homebrewing events going on, I want to make sure you guys are always at the forefront of the scene and again, I apologize for not giving you a ton of time to brew beer.

With that said, since this next event is celebrating Spring, I'd love to see lighter/hoppier beers. You don't have to make 16 different beers...a few would be good and if you have the time, go nuts and put whatever weird shit you want to put in there.

Also I am giving a stipend of $200 for returning brewers and $150 for first time participants for ingredient costs and such.

THIS NEXT PART IS IMPORTANT:

- I don't want there be any kind of argument with the stipend situation seeing as there a ton of costs, unforseen costs, and last minute shit I need to buy on my end putting together an event like this. I know some of you have thrown parties, events, and promoted...great. Just let me do my job.

- This event is about your passion for beer and promoting yourselves with having all kinds of strangers drink your beer. We get a lot of press in the beer world for these events and it gets bigger and bigger each time. Use this to your advantage and put yourself out there so that when y'all are ready to have an operation, your name will be already out there.

- If you have a problem with the way I run things or organize, please just email me directly and not the whole group. The email chain was ridiculous for the last event.

- Jared Rouben from Goose Island Clybourn is a special guest brewer for this as well.

- I will have savory food for the event this time so no worries about sustenance.

This is about it for now. I learned from a few mistakes last time to make this event even tighter than the last and I am working on securing more space.

If there are any concerns, email me. I'll be keeping in touch.

p.s. if you didn't give me your name for the flyer, I need them ASAP
