We're doing another group buy. Here's what I'll be posting on homebrewtalk.com. Orders from that site will supplement our pallet size and reduce our shipping rate, and if we get enough orders, our overall pricing rate, as well as possibly helping to spread our name a bit in the local homebrew community.
"I've already run out of the grain I ordered from the last group buy and I've noticed a lot of interest on the old thread. Let's try and squeeze one more in before poor weather makes delivery to the usual locale impossible. We're aiming for the first week in December at the latest.
Due to the rush everyone should assume the highest rates on the order form (rather than the slightly discounted ones from hitting above 1000 lbs). One should also keep in mind that the shipping will be split the same way as before. You'll assume a shipping fee proportionate to the amount of grain that you've ordered.
We'll have to try and speed this one along before the inclement weather shuts it down.
PM me for orders, including the brand and type. As before, please have all split-orders worked out before submitting.
This order, though still shipped to Bill's, will not be supervised by Bill. He said he'd vouch for me and Niilo on this thread, though."
Here's a link to catalogue pricing, please message me any questions you have about the catalogue and also message me your order. If you want to do a split order advertise on here. I'm sure there will be some interest. As a last thought, keep in mind that Briess is not available to us.
Yeah, cheers to the THREE of you for your efforts on our group buys.
Sorry I'm late to the game but I won't be around for a few days to get my grain... is there anyone able to pick up the 3 sacks I have coming?
Bill I'm off all day tomorrow. I can help put the orders together. Do you have a set delivery time?
thats why i would pick it up on my own..i can even pick up someone else's too...im working nights....but i can pick it up in the late morning early afternoon.....i can do the split at my house....and bring it to the brewhouse for kyle......but i need to know where and when.....will someone help me out here and tell me how to get this grain....if its a secret just email me

Er...1/2 ton.
Dan: if there is room I will grab your sack (and split sack) and bring it to the brew house. I will let you know if there isn't enough room...altho I think we should be okay...its only 1 more sack.
As I stated earlier...I'm more concerned about weight. Last time I did this with 8 sacks and my truck was loaded down pretty well. (and I was surprised that my fuel economy got worse than it already is)
Bill: I am not sure of the total count of what I'm picking up. I think its around 15 sacks.
With grain/passengers. I'm above a ton...
Let's hope I make it.
I plan on going to the brew house tomorrow night with my containers. Dave if you bring my 2 split sacks I will split them up for Daniel and Lager Dan.
I was gonna pick mine up on my own.....but i dont know what the times for pick up...or where...all i know is grand and ogden. .....but i do have 1 50 p sack of german pils also..besides the split
I can pick up the split sacks...However I will not split the sacks. People invovled with splits need to figure that out.
If you (dan and kyle) want me to pick up the sack you are splitting, I can - just let me know.
Dan: do you have additional sacks that are being picked up at Bill's?
Yes I believe he is picking up my 2 whole sacks, my split sack with daniel and my split sack with you. Dave can you confirm?
hey dave are you also picking up the 2 row split that kyle and i are doing?????

Does anybody know the times available for pick up and the address?
Okay, updated list here. Bill I will be picking up for:
Kyle
Daniel
Iggi
Niilo
And myself.
I should be able to fit that in my truck (more concerned about weight than space).
Okay. Just FYI, I'd like to brew on Friday the 6th (and already have my grain at the brew house). I'll text you when I get back on the 4th and we can arrange a time.
Bill, David is not picking up my grain in order to help people who do not have access to a vehicle.
I'll be out of town from the 30th-4th. May I pick mine up next Thursday? I'm free any time of the day. I had:
1 sack Canada Malt/Canadian 2-row
1 sack Thomas Fawcett Marris Otter
1/4 sack Franco Belges Chocolate
and a 32 oz. of StarSan
I can also help out if anyone else needs me to bring their grain to the brew house.
Dave, the oak chips ended up being not available to us, I owe you for them now.
Bill,
If Friday around 6 or so works for you, I can come and pick up a bunch of grains for people. I think the last time we did this I was able to load about 10-12 sacks in my car...
Some people have already talked to me about transporting their grain:
David - 2 sacks
Daniel - 4 sacks
Kyle - 3 sacks
Jim - 2 sacks
Daniel/kyle - 1 split
David - oak chips 2 bags
I can prob fit one more...if anyone has one more sack that they want taken to brew house, shoot me a text and if there is room, ill add you...or let you know that I'm full.
Also, if anyone is storing grain in the brew house, you'll need a container to store in. I'd recommend a galvanized trash can from menards - about $19 and rodent proof.
If I'm picking up for you, please have containers there before friday...and ill throw the sacks in each container.
I will be out of town from the 30th to 4th. I plan to brew on the 6th. Can I pick it up on the 4th? Or, better yet, can anyone bring mine to the brew house?
If you guys could post the pick up times and the address that would be helpful......
Bill any chance you can bring my sacks to the brew house next time you come? I'd be willing to pay you a small delivery fee!
no, I'm meeting niilo tonight to receive 200 dollars worth of payments for 4 people and also getting some money from bill tonight. After that everyone is paid up, we can try and process everything tomorrow IF the paypal transfers have gone through by then. There's a chance they won't. There were a few that didn't process in paypal until today and so I couldn't withdraw until today. It takes sometimes 3-4 days to get transferred to your account from there.
So if hbt guy paid, are we all set? Has everyone paid?
Ah, so the slacker is among us then! Let's get him....
hbt guy is paid.
I'd be up to buy his share with Tom too, if he doesnt respond.
Yeah, same here. Let's turn the screws on the guy. I may be willing to buy some of his grain, too. I was hoping to brew over my two-week winter break (which starts Friday); doesn't look like that's happening.....
if it's just the hbt guy were waiting on I might be willing to buy his grain... depending on what he's getting and whether he is backing out or not. Just saying, I want my grain soon.
waiting for payment from chuck, dave, niilo, and one guy on homebrewtalk. Already talked to dave and niilo, should have their payment by wednesday. Haven't heard from chuck or the hbt guy.
Any update, Daniel? ETA?
Daniel,
I just Chase Quick payed you for my total. Let me know when you recieve it. Can't wait to get these sacks and start brewing. Sack and Bungs.
I paid. And forgot to order a sack I thought I did.
...igz...
Money is flowing in, quite a bit slower from Chaos people than from homebrewtalk people.
Let's all get our money in so this bad boy is shipped and we can start brewin'!
chase is working wonders. Please use that if you bank with chase.
Here's the spreadsheets. You can check to see what you owe on there.
pallet 1 https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArYBTYHsluZgdDVjUEt0R25idnZMQk9qMDlueW1aWmc&hl=en_US#gid=0
pallet 2- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArYBTYHsluZgdDBvVDd0Sm03V0N5MFVjOUlFcXNIWWc&hl=en_US#gid=0
You may pay me either in person, through chase person-to-person blindside8zao@yahoo.com, or paypal the same email address. If you pay paypal please use the adjusted increased amount on the spreadsheet that factors that transaction charge in.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Daniel
With all the barrels we need to fill I'd say we close this buy and get this order shipped ASAP.
Okay. Thanks for indulging my query!
This is a slightly different variation of my old question "how do you decide which grains to buy." Do you buy all the grains you will possibly use in any of your recipes (i.e., when you go to brew, do you have every grain you need already on hand from previous bulk buys) or do you buy the grains which make up the majority of the recipe and then simply hit up the LHBS for the odds-and-ends grains to complete the recipe?
Another way to phrase it. e.g., say you wanted to brew a recipe which calls for 10.5# Maris Otter, 2# Crystal 40, 1.5# light Munich, 1.25# English chocolate, 1# flaked barley, and .25# English black patent, will you purchase all the grains through a bulk buy or will you just purchase the Marris Otter (and maybe the Crystal and/or the Munich) then hit the LHBS for the remainder of the grain bill? Or will you get every, last grain you will use from the bulk buy?
The second pallet is full. I believe Kyle was the last of the orders. When we get the quote I will message everyone on the spreadsheet and plug in all the amounts due. Hopefully early next week we will have a quote.
Put me down for 1 sack of marris otter and 1 sack of munich
put me down for 1 more sack of Marris....got a lot of barrels to fill all of a sudden.
We're down to the last 10 slots for grain and I want to make sure there aren't a few people who want to buy into a split sack. Belgian Aromatic? Biscuit? Chocolate, Roast? Any of those things you don't use a lot of but are tired of paying big prices for per lb? Post what you're looking for and how much you'd buy in. We did several three way splits last time that give you a nice amount of grain for a small amount of money. I'm posting the same on hbt and will cross-refer people.

We need 15 more bags for two full pallets! That's not much more. People are adding daily on homebrewtalk. Let us know if you want to get in on the buy.
I think it's only 22, you probably saw the number for the StarSan and counted that. I did contact thatryanguy last week. He said he would do some hops, cleaning supplies, and possibly some puree along with his grains. Haven't heard back from him yet. I will send him another message.
Here is the link for the second spreadsheet. Let me know if I missed anything, I'm sure I did. I kept it simple and didn't add prices since those were just for guidelines, just did quantities. If you need a reference of how it will look click here for how the first pallet was done. When it is full I will have to adjust all the prices. Please let me know what I forgot, what I screwed up, or if you want more.
Thomas messaged me and said he wanted a sack of canadian pils. Niilo, make sure his total order is canadian pils, 2-row, and a half of the wheat with dru. Also, Dave williams one each of the wood chips they're offering. There's three types.
Sign me up for the other half of that sack!

Put me down for a sack of 2-row... just pick a good brand, never done all grain but I figure 2-row is a good place to start. Is anyone looking to split sacks of anything other than 2-row?
also, john at farmhouse is advertising on hbt that he's having a black friday sale on hops from midnight to midnight. Only a handful are available, cascade, centennial, hallertauer, etc... I will probably be picking some up. I think he mentioned 65 cents an ounce.
Someone lmk if they are interested in combining orders and doing a group thing to save on shipping.
Hey guys. I see you are group buying from Mid Country. Where are you getting it delivered? I was thinking of just taking a ride down there soon to get a couple sacks, but this may be more convenient. Is it getting delivered to the club house?
