Hi,
So, it seems a lot of people aren't following the original thread anymore (understandable since it's been around awhile). We need some information from people. I haven't heard from many people and am beginning to wonder whether or not everyone who initially signed up to brew are still going to do that. Please touch base with me if you volunteered, just to let me know if you're still planning on contributing.
Here's a repost of Stephen Lane's post in the thread concerning our official signup sheet:
e need your beer info for the beer menu we will print up. I have added a 2nd Sheet on Iggi's Google spreadsheet. PLEASE FILL OUT ALL FIELDS! Keep your description short and tweety (140 characters max.) Guess on the ABV if you don't know.
Example:
Brewer: Steven Lane Beer Name: Mayan Midnight Description: Big boozy stout with smoked chilis, cinammon, cacao, and espresso (all ingredients organic.) ABV: 12.12%
Got it? Do it!

Ok. And we also need some chilis for a chili competition. I posted in the original thread letting people know that you should submit a description for your chili if you're interested in competing. We'll be taking 7 contestants total and choosing them based on the descriptions. So far I haven't heard from anyone. Please send me a private message if you want to compete.
Finally, we need volunteers for the event. Mostly we need a few volunteers still to do serving of food throughout the event and also to help clean up and break down the next day. Sign up here.

Thanks for bumping this thread, Daniel!
It still seems that information was better seen/disseminated on Ning...
Done....FYI my beer is in the fridge at the brewhouse....this is the only way for me not to drink it...it is labled so nobody else drink it either....thanks
bumpoed, please fill out your info if you haven't finished yet. Please give a good description.
So...
At Harvest Fest, Lucas did a lot of on-the-spot troubleshooting with the web-site, &c. when people signed up at the door for a membership. Lucas will not be at Stout Night. To further "complicate" things, my computer is out of comission and so I can't offer it to use that night.
You all need to start getting the word out (e.g., FaceBook) that memberships should be purchased ahead of time. If people are having trouble purchasing a Trial membership at the door, we're in the unfortunate position of accepting cash or turing people away.
Perhaps we can use the brewhouse computer but we might want to have a second one. Evan has offered his mifi/hotspot, but we should have another one of those, too.
shit. ok. Thanks for the heads-up.
Has anyone posted this up on HomeBrewTalk.com?
looks like we are on the same page....i too was wondering about the computer situation. I was hoping we would have acess to some kind of wifi and laptop.
Just occurred to me that, alternately, people can just use their smart phones to get online and get the membership if all else fails.
Just FYI: I took a very cursory look at the list of people who said "Going" on our Facebook Page. Out of 78 people, I know that only 27 of those are members in some way, shape, or form. i.e., 51 people think they're coming and do not yet have a membership.
I don't know how blatant/direct we can be for ILCC, &c. legal purposes (i.e., "You must pay money for a membership in order to get into our party and eat/drink!") but in order to mitigate the line outside the brewhouse on Stout Night, we might want to be a bit more direct than "A Trial Membership gets you into Stout Night." It definitely lets people know that a membership gets you in the door; it's not clear that you don't get in the door without one.
Also, I feel a lot more confident about things this time around andI am hopeful we won't have to do as much on the spot troubleshooting since we seem to have many bugs worked out from the last time.
Oh... my... god. Why haven't we done this? http://thechive.com/2013/09/17/guys-rig-up-buddies-plumbing-with-beer-wh...
I, too, feel more confident but just FYI:
The one thing I distinctly remember being a hangup was the birth date field. We of course need it 'cause no one under 21 should be a part of the club (they esp. shouldn't be getting into alcoholic parties) but people had the damndest time entering it. I also vaguely remember that people were entering it in the exact format it said on the sign-up page and it was still giving them grief.
Second to that was general connectivity issues for whatever reason (whether it was the MiFi/hotspot we were using, site taking too long to load, computer doing something funky).
The more we can convince people to sign up ahead of time, the better. Both for the obvious (reduced lines and chances for screwups night-of), and to help perpetuate the mild falsehood that this is a "private" event.
I still need menu info from Canuck (Bill), Eric Padilla, and Mark Walters
Mine is a Vanilla Bourbon Porter - coming it at 8.5%. The bourbon (makers mark) was added at kegging. It's technically a porter because there is chocolate malt and black patent, but no black roasted barley.
Hi Mark! CAn you please click the link above to go to the google docs and fill in your beer info on sheet 2 of the document? I would do it for you but you need to have your own description of the beer written up for a menu. Thanks!
I had to cut down some of the descriptions to fit everything. I realize the four groupings are not proper beer categories, but they seemed appropriate, and we had discussed setting up four bars to spread people out.
NOT FINAL, PLEASE DO NOT POST! click on graphic for larger view
Steve, if it's not too late I'd like to make another addition... I added it to the Google Doc.
jesus. 25 beers. This is so great. You're all warming my heart over. Thanks for all the help everyone!
Its probably best if everyone brings one picnic tap for each keg they are bringing, otherwise I dont know how it will all get served.
we had a lot of volunteers at the meeting to bring picnic taps. Can you please post here if you plan on bringing one or two?
I'm bringing two picnic taps. I can also bring my CO2 tank (which has two lines).
Eric, I made BC & CC one entry, but I think I made it clear they are two versions of milk stout.
NO MORE ENTRIES ACCEPTED! It took forever and a day to get everything to fit on one page. FUTURE NOTE: We need to get better at balancing the descriptions. We typically vacillate from haiku like minimalism to dear diary maximalism.
I posted an updated beer menu to our event page:
http://www.chaosbrewclub.net/event/chaos-stout-chili-night
Thanks Steve... posted it on the FB event page as well.
I think getting better at the descriptions needs some input/guidelines from the person writing up the menu (e.g., 15 words or less - make sure to include noteworthy/special tastes or ingredients). I don't recall any helpful hints on the Google Docs where we entered it.
I left my picnic tap in the office, it'll need some cleaning/love but its there for ya'll.
Oh... my... god. Why haven't we done this? http://thechive.com/2013/09/17/guys-rig-up-buddies-plumbing-with-beer-wh...
Those of us bringing our beers over on Saturday, what time should we bring them by?
hi adam, I may have left you out of the message I sent because your name here isn't your regular name. Sorry, if so. Anyways, I sent a message asking everyone to have their beer carbed and ready at the brewhouse by Thursday so that we can have everything organized, taste-tested, and set up before Saturday. If you can't make it there til Saturday, just bring it whenever you're coming in. Be sure and have it carbed the way you want it served.
Daniel,
Where are you planning on storing all of the beer? I suppose the brewhouse is probably fridge temperature (or maybe even a bit colder) so long as the heat isn't on.
In any case, my beer is carbed and ready now, and I could probably bring my beer by either Thursday or Friday evening. Which would be better as far as when you were planning to get everything organized? Also, my beer is carbed to around 3 volumes. Do you think that's going to be a huge problem, foam-wise?
-Adam
At the last meeting I offerred my car to help out with the propane tanks. Does anyone know the status of this?
Josh, we'll check the tanks that are currently at the brewhouse when we're there tomorrow night. We have so many that I wouldn't be surprised if we have enough full ones right now.
As for advertising, I've started to put the beers out there slowly on our facebook page by breaking them into the four categories on the sheet Steven made. I'll release 1 per day & started with Breakfast Stouts today. If you see it on FB be sure to throw it a like so that more people see it because it's getting a lot of likes (which is how business pages now work).
What time are y'all going to be at the brewhouse tonight? Trying to decide if I'm going to bring my beer by tonight or tomorrow.
-Adam
hi, I am probably going to be around after I get off work to start cleaning some things (1:30 or 2:00 pm). Will probably be meeting Evan at Costco some time later in the night (not sure when). But I also plan on being around evening and night to clean, move, and organize things.
I'd probably be by between 6:30 and 7. I'll txt you before I head over.
what time do you want the chilis on sat??
I have to work sunday morning 7am....so I will not be able to break down the tents after the party...i took my name off the list
fyi we have had 43 trial members sign up this month.......plus all of our other members....this is going to be a great party
