I wasn't sure which forum to put this in, so I put it in General to attract the most eyeballs. As everyone knows, we have a multitude of barrels at the brewhouse, and the barrel aging program is one of the coolest parts of CHAOS. One of my friends will shortly be in possession of a freshly-emptied custom Few Spirits rye barrel, and he has generously volunteered to lend it to CHAOS for a group barrel brew. So, 2 questions:
1) Are we (as a club) interested in putting together another awesome barrel-aged beer?
2) If there's interest, do we have the room in the brewhouse to store another barrel for several months while we age whatever it is that we brew for this barrel (I assume it's ~50 gallons, but I can double check with my friend)?

I'm interested, but check. I've been to FEW and most of their barrels are 10 G.
yeah, I would be even more interested if it were a smaller barrel. I too was under the impression that FEW used small barrels.
Well, if it's 10 gallons, I might just fill it myself, and use some of the gallons to participate in some barrel-blending. We'll see.

If its a larger barrel I would definately be interested in brewing for it
The emperor is not as forgiving as i am
I'm interested, too...
as long as everyone realizes that we're sitting on two empty Bourbon County barrels currently. We should do a better job of maintaining what we have before getting too many more perhaps. But, on the other hand I like the look if we can continue to stack things vertically. Niilo's rum barrel upstairs is also empty and has been for probably a year or more.
We definitely need to get the bondy barrel filled with something; I think after stout night I will try to build momentum there. Do we know the condition of Iggi's barrel? Can it hold water? If not, can it be recovered by soaking the wood long enough that it swells up?
As far as Niilo's barrel, we should reach out to him to see if he wants it back. Otherwise, we should put something in there! That barrel is/was fantastic...
