Hi,
Ken Getty let me know that the pipes were frozen last night when he went to the brewhouse to bottle. That doesn't bode well. Thought I'd let our more pipe-knowledgeable members know (couch, Chuck). I suppose that would have been a major advantage to having hot water installed.
There should be a piece of heat wrap around the pipe that feeds the brewhouse. That section of the pipe should pe the only place where the water can freeze. Its posible that the heat warp is not plugged in. Check it out when you get there today.
A HWH would not help the problem. The feed line to the HWH would be longer than the one we currently have and would have to be fully heat wrapped too.
Let me know what you find out. Kens heaters will definitly fix the problem if the heat wrap does not.
James
Was it the pipes or the hoses? When I was there Tuesday night the hoses and the sprayer nozzle were frozen, not the pipes.
The emperor is not as forgiving as i am
I may be able to provide a large space heater if needed. Would that help?
I am going to the brewhouse in a few minutes, will update you.
The Heaters are in my trunk and will be dropped off at the brewhouse around 6pm. Last night the pipe was frozen along with the green hose.
This is probably a good time for a reminder about using hoses in the BH.
Always shut off the water (yellow ball valve) and drain the hose when
you are finished.
Never unplug the pipe wrap in the winter.
Try not to take off the sprayers or quick disconnect fittings. There
is a hose for each application. Green is for
spraying/filling/cleaning/etc. White is for counter flow chiller.
