So as quite a few of you are aware, I decided recently to upgrade my kegerator from the one I had built out of my old college fridge to something new. So I started off down the road of building a new kegerator. This one is built out of an upright freezer, because I didn't have the floor space for a chest freezer. A few of you were asking about this last night so here are the promised pictures. The outside is painted in chalkboard.
The controller was home-made from an Arduino, an LCD, and some electronic components. Its a touchscreen so you can determine the setpoint on the screen.
It'll hold somewhere between 8-11 kegs depending on the layout. Sadly, because the fridge wasn't tall enough I had to use pin-lock kegs on the top (they're a couple inches shorter but have a wider diameter). You can also note the back side of where the controller goes and the back of the door is white-board material if I ever want to write.
I have two separate sets of gas systems in two separate colors. Blue is for force-carbing, red is for serving. There's also a green high pressure gas hose so I can keep the tank elsewhere.
Finally, all of the fittings on the liquid side are stainless steel and all of the taps are Perlick 525SS'es. The tap handles are from Micromatic and include a space where you can change out home-made labels. Here's how it all came together:
If anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to let me know. It still needs a drip tray, but otherwise is mostly done! Now onto Kegerator 2.1... :-)
No pics! Make with the pics!!!
Paitience, the images took a while to upload as I'm tethered to my phone. Should be all set now.
Oh... my... god. Why haven't we done this? http://thechive.com/2013/09/17/guys-rig-up-buddies-plumbing-with-beer-wh...
This awesome Lucas, nice job!... Let us know when the kegerator warming party is! ;)
I'm thinking in a future upgrade to our ferm room/lager/hot box we could use a networked Arduino to control the temps and have them displayed online, or maybe send out email alerts when the temps stray out of range for long period of time.
By the way, would you mind if I post these pics on our Facebook page? I think they would generate some good buzz...
Nope, go right ahead. This forum should be publically visible too if you want to link directly to it.

Wow, nice, clean build! Wish I had room to do the same. One of the best installs I've seen! When is the soiree to break it in? :)
Most impressive!!! Congrats on that, it's pretty amazing.
