Any update to Chaos' position on this bill. Last I heard, we were neutral on this. There is an amendment that seeks to rectify issues with competitions and exhibitions.
Here are some tasty bits.
[Homebrew made] at his or her place of residence or another location with permission from the property owner, and not for a commercial purpose, but for consumption by that person or his or her family and guests or for use at an exhibition, demonstration, judging, tasting, or sampling or as part of a contest or competition
and
An exhibition, demonstration, judging, tasting, sampling, contest, or competition held by a licensee on a licensed premises may require an admission charge to the event, but no separate or additional fee may be charged for the consumption of a person's homemade fermented beverages
See the original post here. That is no longer the operative language in the bill, as there were significant changes after homebrewers "negotiated" with ABDI/ILBA.
We objected to much of the language in the bill, but it had the overwhelming support of the remaining Illinois homebrew stakeholders (clubs and brew shops), so we agreed to support the bill. There are some last minute changes suggested/mandated by ABDI that may make the bill untenable to CHAOS; I'll keep the club updated.

No this is the language in the amendment that was introduced on March 19 and is slated to be voted on. This link is the offical legislation from the Illinois General Assembly. The previous thread is only a draft.
Yes, and another amendment is very close to being offered (the draft language in the other thread) that will supercede this language. This language does not have the support of ABDI (or anyone in Springfield with enough juice to get it passed without ABDI's support) and is not going anywhere.
So I guess my previous post was incorrect. The other language is not the "operative" language until it's offered as an amendment, but it should be offered by Rep. Farnham shortly.

Dude. Did you even bother to go to the site???? This amendment is being voted on in committee today. The link is from the actual site fo the ILGA.
Correction they are having a hearing in committe on it today.
I can only tell you information that is being provided to me by IHA; we have been told that there will be an Amendment 2 (the language approved by ABDI), and it will supercede the language of Amendment 1.
Is any of this online somewhere? I'm trying to follow it. Maybe the next amendment is when it gets to the floor?
Currently there's nothing online (outside of the IHA message board, to which I am CHAOS's representative), because nothing has been officially submitted. Things only just heated up as of last Wednesday, when we saw the result of IHA's negotiations with ABDI. That's the draft I posted in the other thread. Since Wednesday, the members of IHA decided to approve that language as drafted, in spite of CHAOS's objections. Then, ABDI made some changes to the language of the bill this morning that would have made fermenting at the brewhouse illegal. IHA has been negotiating on our behalf this afternoon to have language put in that will allow fermentation at a homebrew club such as CHAOS.
If all goes to plan and ABDI doesn't object to this language, the amended bill should be voted on in the House on April 19, and the Senate on April 25.
That's pretty much everything that I know at this point. Let me know if there are any questions I can answer.

Thanks for taking care of this. That amendment is the first thing a I saw on this since the original draft.
