I am interested in a couple.
I was talking to someone (maybe Jonas?) who said he had a line on kegs; could get them for $30 and sell them for $30.
$30 sounds much better!
Don't quote me on that (since I don't remember who it was). But, I distcintly remember telling him that he should mark it up at least a little (to $35-$40) because even $40/keg is good in this market (aren't they going for $45+ on Craig's List and elsewhere?).
Yeah, $35-$40 seems fair. $55 for the original post seemed slightly high. I was hoping that if we had enough interest we could get a price break on the original craigslist ad.
I think ball lock kegs for much less than $50 are getting close to being a thing of the past at this point. If these have been cleaned and have all new o-rings, they're not a terrible deal. If it's just a dirty keg with a set of new o-rings, less so...
I've actually contacted this guy seperately about possibly cutting me a deal if I bought multiple. Perhaps he was having a bad day, but in his response to me, he essentially told me to f' off and that he's doing me the favor by selling them for $55.
Like I said, maybe he was frustrated at the time over something else. Regardless, I was convinced to take my business elsewhere, even if that means paying comparable prices.
In my other post, I found 4 cornies for 180.00 plus shipping which is about another 20 bucks.

I'm looking into how much it would cost to upgrade from bottling to kegging. Is $55 a decent price for a "refurbished" corny keg?
$55 is about standard - the other costs are the CO2 tank, the gas regulator, fittings, tap and hoses. some people just buy a picnic tap (all plastic) and upgrade later when they do a keg fridge.
You want the keg with the pressure relief valve, it's easier to open it after the keg is empty. Most have this, but a few don't.
On top of the cost of the kegs, figure approximately $150 for a tank, regulator, hoses, disconnects, and a picnic tap for one keg. Add about $30 per additional keg (with picnic taps). Then you need a fridge or freezer. If you get a freezer, then you need an external temp. controller to keep your beer cold but not frozen. I'd ballpark about $4-500 for a complete 2-tap system with just picnic taps, depending on how aggressive you are at finding deals. Any upgrades will obviously cost additional money.
Check the HBT for sale section and craigslist. Kegerators/keezers come up on both occasionally and are a decent way to save some mony.

I made the full transition about a year ago. For everything already listed, including chest freezer (on sale), temp controller (good one), lumber/insulation for the collar, and ingredients for three batches to fill the three kegs I bought came out to $800. I should note that I use the picnic taps and plan to for the foreseeable future. Faucets are certainly great, but in all reality, the picnic taps work really really great and will save you an additional few hundred dollars...assuming you go for the perlicks and don't cheap out
