Hey Guys
I just signed up today for an apprentice level membership. I did a brewing 101 back in the spring but then switched jobs and my life got crazy. Anyway, I'd like to get myself started again. I'm looking for someone who would be willing to show me the ropes in the new brewhouse and supervise my brew. PM me, I will work around your schedule.
Thanks in advance, ~Shaun
Welcome to the club Shaun! Happy to have you join us. What kind of recipe are you gonna brew?
Hi Joe:
I haven't fully decided but it will be a simple partial mash/extract- either a pale or maybe a porter. Keep it simple to get my feet wet.
Shaun, there are 2 guys brewing on Saturday morn. Yo should go to the calander section and book yourself a spot...
Just go all the way and go full grain. Don't be afraid, it's way easier than you think. I was thinking the same way with my first brew, but I was encouraged to go full grain, and I'm glad I did. It'll be cheaper too. The knowledge of the experienced members in the club is invaluable and will really help you, I learn new stuff very time I'm there. I picked up a copy of "Designing Great Beers" on amazon and a copy of Beersmith, that combo right there will have you building your own recipes in no time. Beersmith also has a pretty large archive of recipes if you want to use someone else's.
Thanks guys- I'm booked until next weekend, but signed up for next Saturday.
Joe- thanks for the tips and the resources. I'll definitely check them out! Catch you guys around the brewhouse!
