Has it been a problem in the past with people not showing up with their promised beer?

Primary issues that I want to

Primary issues that I want to avoid are people showing up with beer that has been shaken up in transit, pouring foamy as a result, while already being over-carbed. Last year I was able to get every beers psi set properly the night before the event, as well as try everything. I remember seeing a few beers at other parties that were pouring straight yeast for the first 20 minutes and cloudy for awhile after that. I just don't want our guests first impression to be that or a beer that might have a serious off-flavor flaw to it. No beer from last years stout night got cut because of that but I still want to go through everything again this year

Daniel, it might have been me

Daniel, it might have been me who said I had eight bombers I could provide...not much. But, it was also I (when you tasted it at that one meeting) who couldn't remember which beer it actually was; I was trying to figure out if it was Niilo's barrel or yours (and I didn't get anywhere). I can bring a box of bombers of whatever it is if you'd like.

Okay. I'll bring some back

Okay. I'll bring some back from the 'burbs on Friday night. It'll be late Friday, though, so I'll leave it in the fridge or keezer labeled if there's room.

For some reason when I look

For some reason when I look at the beer list, it's all jacked up under the first column; the names of the first six or so beers have been written over (it appears...). Just a "heads up!"

Just a random thought: has

Just a random thought: has any consideration been given to keeping the menu electronic, what with all the prevalent smart phone techonlogy? Just make sure the .png is up-to-date and then post it somewhere smart-phone accessible? Maybe even with a link to (a locked version of) the googledoc beer sign-up spreadsheet so people can read up further on the brew?

I understand that there might be some cache to old-school paper versions; I'm thinking from a total time/money perspective (Steven's not hitting the FedEx/Kinko's minutes before the event starts and we'd save $100+ in menus).

Printed menues are essential.

Printed menues are essential.  No PDFs or Google Docs...the beauty of stout night is people for the most part put there phones away and communicate like human beings, because there is no reason for them to be on their phones.

Secondly, it just doesn't work...too much hastle.  People take notes and mark off, which beers they sampled.

Fair enough, I agree with the

Fair enough, I agree with the latter (even my generation can't keep their faces out of their phones).

Should we have some golf pencils available to facilitate the note-taking?

Maybe some BJCP score sheets for shits and giggles?

Whether or not we're going to have a PA system, should we get everyone's attention at some point when the crowd seems fullest and publicly thank our members (and fans)? We had done this for our first 3-4 events (I think I usually did it immediately after I called the numbers for the raffle; we probably got away from it because we stopped doing raffles). After all, it is a member appreciation party.......

Sorry, I'm having a moment of lucidity amidst my delerium from lack of sleep...

Hey, Gents. I have various

Hey, Gents. I have various receipts but feel more are forthcoming. Please get me them ASAP (please, pleaes, plase, please, please, put your name and "Stout & Chili Night III" on the back) and I'll reimburse people ASAP. As odd as it sounds, I need snail-mail adddresses and phone numbers in order to cut checks. Please get me the "name," "snail mail address," "phone number," and "reason for reimbursement" and I can cut the person a check.

Thanks!!!!!!
