Okay, Stout Night is now in the review mirror (of a cab, I hope) and it's time to start brewing for this year's Cerveza de Mayo, which will take place on Saturday, May 3rd. I decided to make the sign-up sheets a bit easier to locate, so placed them on the event page: http://www.chaosbrewclub.net/event/cerveza-de-mayo-iii
We can use this string for anything else. Starting with: I plan to bring the pinata back. That shit was way to hilarious to not do again.
Cool,, We can stuff the pinata with little travel size booze and other fun items.
"Give a man a beer, and he will waste an hour. Teach a man to brew, and he will waste a lifetime!" Bill Owen
I'm in!! Can't wait!!! Can we get spreadsheets going already :)
Pinata is a must.
Travel booze would be cool! We could also add in some dry yeast packest and hops or other non-breakable brewing stuff... just an idea.
What are people's thoughts on bringing back the raffle or some contest of sorts?
If we can do it legally, I would be up for a raffle or something.
Jeff...you still need to change the spreadsheets so everyone can edit them.
I changed them the other day?!!!
Okay, fixed for sure!
If I remember the legal discussion correctly, you can raffle stuff off, just not home brew, cause that's equivalent to selling it. For me, raffles are like nails on a chalkboard, "For the sixth time, does anyone have 790645? 790645!?!"
However, if you keep it down to 1-3 items, it's not so bad.
I'm with you Steven. We should at least do some giveaways for CHAOS t-shirts, one-on-one/all-expenses-paid brewing classes, &c. I know that the orange wrist-bands we now use are numbered. I've thought of ways to streamline working the door. I could put the number of wrsitband next to the person's name when they check in at the door and get their wrist band and we can just draw numbers at random... People just seemed to have fun during the raffle and so I was thinking of ways of giving away stuff without it being that boring, bingo-like vibe...
Sequential numbered wristbands are a great idea for giveaways. I've used ticketprinting.com for them before and been really happy.
We already have the wristbands; not sure if Mark got them at the same place or not. But, I'll keep that site in mind for future orders.
could we just print a small number and place it on the wristbands? Avery return address label? Sell them and collect them :)
Maybe we could get Noah to donate a Gino's East gift card as one of the prizes. I can check with Fat Pour, too.
Conrad, Lucas told me you had an idea for an app for the person working the door and wanted to throw some ideas at you:
(1) could this app find members by name and tell us whether their membership is current or expired?
(2) coudl this app populate a separate spreadsheet with first name, last name, and membership level so we can easily see after each event who came?
(3) (problem to solve and a question) How do we go about +1s and "special guests" who seem to just walk through the door without signing up for even a free web-only membership. Could we have a little link on the app to "add" someone and tie them to another name (e.g., if my +1 walks in and isn't registered, I'd enter his/her name and could tag/link him/her to my name?)
Jim, kickass ideas. I'll layout a map of the app in the next week or two and see if that fits the bill then start woking on it. I have access to the API's for everything we need thansk to Lucas so producing the app shouldn't be that complex.
Yeah, we definitely used to have stuff from Brew Camp and Midwest Supplies to giveaway. I think Gino's and FatPour (was just there last night, BTW - pretty solid place) are good ideas but we can get back to having some of our Chicago friends donate stuff and get in.
I'll talk ot Local 22 on Monday, they are giving me paperwork on Monday for a partnership and I'll ask John to donate a gift card as well for Cinco.
Bumped this one, too. May 3rd is only two months away!
Thanks for the reminder Jeff, I will get the event page graphics and info together this week.
Last nights meeting with Omega Yeast has me eager to get back to my Agave Saison, I better get cracking on that as well...
Hi all, we have five weeks until Cerveza and the event is already up on FB. Let's get the beer, food, and volunteer lists filled! So far, Nancy is supplying most of the beer!
That's because I brew every other day... :)
Ya we got to change the code to keep you out. Or build a ferm room just for you.
Hey, I only got 2 in there right now, and most of my stuff lately has been collaborations... but if you want to build me a ferm room, I'm not going to say no.
We're looking good food-wise, but could still use a couple people to make some salsa, rice, or guacamole. Also, we still have some event volunteer positions open.
I signed up for salsa... how much should I anticipate making?
Thanks Nancy! I would say one to two gallons worth of salsa is good.
Kenneth and I have signed on to bring the refried beans but won't be able to be there much before 6. Can I have him drop them off earlier in the day? They'll be in a large crock pot with a "keep warm" setting. Thanks!
Hi Cynthia, we'll be at the brew house starting around 11:00, so feel free to stop by anytime. Thanks for making the beans!
