While at the brew house today, I found the following condition in the ferm room. Someone's yeast really took off and there is now trub on the shelves and a number of carboys. It looks like the carboy that blew was removed, but the area not cleaned. (This was on the top shelf by the door.)
I would ask that the person who had the blow off return and complete cleaning up after themselves. We have a guest speaker coming tomorrow night from a yeast lab. I'm sure he's going to check out the ferm room and we don't want to embarass ourselves. Plus, we obviously need to keep the ferm room as clean as possible. Thanks.
That was Nancy's Russian Imperial, it blew the lid complete off during my morning brew session. She's aware of the situation, and I believe will be there tomorrow morning to take care of it. Rich and I moved her fermenter to the floor and put the lid back on in a feeble attempt to limit any continuing nastiness and limit any damage to her beer.
I would have cleaned up the mess for her, but my decoction mash experiment resulted in a 9 hour brew day, and that nastiness will take some time to clean and I just plain ran out of time, had to get back home and take care of some things here.
Gotcha, thanks Joe! I'm brewing with her tomorrow, so will give her a hand cleaning up.
Yes, all cleaned up, probably cleaner then before... Sorry for the mess.
You did a great job. We could eat off the shelves....
