CHAOS received the following e-mail. Does this look interesting to anyone?
Hi C.H.A.O.S Brew Club,
It is the FastRack Crew here! Not sure if you have heard but we are raffling off 15 FREE tickets to the National Homebrew Conference hosted by the American Homebrewers Association this year in Grand Rapids, Michigan! That’s right … We have secured 15 passes that we are giving away completely Free!
The reason we are emailing you is we would love to have the C.H.A.O.S Brew Club involved with the free giveaways. We are doing the free giveaways through a Speed Challenge Event that is a ton of fun to host! The details can be found here…
How the event works:
http://www.thefastrack.ca/main/speedchallenge
How to get free FastRacks for the event:
http://www.thefastrack.ca/main/sponsorship
I am hoping to organize a time to have a phone conversation or keep communicating via email with someone at your club about this. We think you would have a ton of fun being involved and perhaps you have some of the Fastest FastRack Hands yourself!
Looking forward to your thoughts.
Best Regards - Cheers,
Brady Vickers
FastRack
It certainly sounds fun. Let's see what he's thinking for our involvment.
In! I own Fast Track Racks, and love em. I'm interested in this, anyone else want to join me, and help with video timing, and practice flipping, let me know. Can we look into the event further and what hosting involves?
Is anyone else interested in this? Should I contact Brady Vickers at FastRack to find out more information? 15 FREE AHA Conference passes, sounds too good to pass up. I'd be willing to take the lead on this project, let me know if I should contact him directly and express our interest.
Thanks, Nanc
Go for it. I thnk people are interested but looking for someone else to lead.
Thanks,
James
I agree with Nanc. 15 passes to AHA is too good to pass up. I hav ethought about getting some of these racks. Consider me in.

Cool, I will follow up. I have a set of Fast Racks and it looks like they have a link to get some free ones for the event. I'll look more into this.
OK, peeps I got the dets for the FastRacks challenge.
I'd like to host a FastRack event at the club towards the end of March or early April. All we need to do is: time/record/video individuals flipping the racks with bottles in them, to capture the fastest time. The fastest flipper gets entered into a pool to win one of 15 tickets to AHA conference. The top 15 fastest flippers will get a FREE tix... It's a FREE $220 tix to the conference, so why not give it a shot?
Right now there are 20 clubs all over North America competing. I personally already use FastRacks for my bottles and I love the product. In addition they will send our club 2 FREE sets to practice with and use for our competition event... and we get to keep them. We only need to cover shipping expenses, which is approx. $15. They send us a PayPal request to pay this. Question to our treasurer, how do we pay for this, can you pay if I forward you the PayPal request?
So my question is who would like to try for a FREE $220 tix to AHA and which date works best for you for the event to record your time?
Saturday March 15 from 2-3pm
or
Saturday April 5 from 2-3pm
Thanks for organizing this, Nancy!
The club will definitely cover this. Whoever's handling this can just send a PayPal invoice to chaosbrewclub@gmail.com.
Sounds like fun!
I'm in! Either date works for me.

Hoping to hold the FastRacks challenge on Saturday March 15 from 2-3pm, but I'm still waiting to get the FastRacks. Will post confirmation of date on the calendar, once I have the racks in my posession.
Nancy, they said they shipped them yesterday, we should be getting them soon.
They also told me that they themselves need to know the date/time we're going to hold our competition. Is it indeed March 15th, 2-3pm or might that change?
Yes, let's keep that date/time. It also happens to be an Open House too, so maybe that will add an extra draw... I'll post it on our calendar too. Thanks for heads up on shipping.
Sounds good! Thanks, Nancy!
FastRack Bottle flipping competiton is happening in a little less than 2 weeks!
March 15 (also CHAOS open house) Details of event are on the calendar page, but some of you wanted more calrification on what was the deal, so here you go... let me know if you have any more questions.
Are you ready to be crowned the fastest hands at CHAOS?!
WIN:
Fastest time will get an opprtunity for one free entry to the AHA conference, if they are one of the top 15 fastest times in the nation. Only a dozen or so clubs are participating, so chances are good.
TASK (fast time to):
- place 24 (12oz) bottles in the rack
- put the bottles in the case

Kyle what you doing...
White Lightning is already spoken for!!!

By who?
Thanks for those of you who came out to the FastRack Challenge this past Saturday.
Congratulations to Josh Smith, who has the fastest hands... he put a case of bottles in the rack and flipped it in under 11 seconds! IMG_5495.MOV
Nancy will you be only submitting that one or ours as well? I have a feeling my 11.5 will still beat the rest of the entries.
Also love Bill "coaching" in the background.
Yeah, I'll send the others too, the best time of each of ours, I just have to weed through them. Collectively we had over 62 attempts...
Gotta have a coach...LOL
Thanks for putting this together Nancy. was a really fun time.
The emperor is not as forgiving as i am
You're welcome!
And FYI, FastRack requested our top 4 times, so that means, Kyle, Bill, and myself, are also in the mix. If you'd like me to send you your video, I can do that. They are too big to post all of them to this thread.
Kyle Arnold, under 13 seconds
Bill Sanson, under 15 seconds
Nancy Rockwood, under 15 seconds
If you upload them to youtube and then post the links, that would also be cool :-)
Oh... my... god. Why haven't we done this? http://thechive.com/2013/09/17/guys-rig-up-buddies-plumbing-with-beer-wh...
I would like to see the videos

I saved them down, this should work. Attached are the clips.

I think there is somthing wrong with those files Nancy. When clicking them all I get is the QuickTime logo with a ? in the middle of it. I tried DL'ing them and QuickTime gives an error.

FastRack Update:
Rules were changed that you could only use one bottle in one hand at a time, however the rules were not posted on their site at the time of our challenge, so I requested that our (2) entries (Josh and Kyle) be grandfathered in and they have accepted them into the competition. Below is my correspondence with Brady and link to their Fastrack Facebook YouTube channel where our clips were posted.
Thanks! Nanc
All is good! It was my fault I was not sure about the updated rules. Your entries are good! There is a grandfather in rule and you guys did do yours before the rules were updated.
Here is a link to the videos on our youtube page as as well: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVZREqrZwiVvDirFmL5WXZAVgpfdsUGFE
You can also find them all on our facebook page!
It only says [Invalid Form] on the title to show that going forward it is invalid form, just so we don't have others doing it. (Keep in mind this means you guys have a VERY good chance of a ticket!!!)
Cheers,
Brady
Josh were going to NHC fo Free!
Yeah way to bend the rules. Did that say anything about reimbursing you?
I'll ask about that. I don't think the challenge is over, so nothing is completely secure as of yet, about who is the elite15, but I'll ask them about that.
Ya see if I can get reimbursed if I win a spot.
Response:
Hey Nancy,
The 15 top times should be up and visible by around May 15th. We will send you an email or give you guys a call if you are in the top 15 for sure!
Also I am not sure about how it would work with the NHC. If they do refunds then it should be okay, but if not you could sell your ticket to someone who doesn't have one and keep the one you already purchased?
Hopefully this helps.
Cheers,
Brady
FastRack update:
Hey Nancy,
Since we aren't actually associated with the NHC there isn't much we can do. I would suggest that if one of you wins a ticket you sell it to a friend, homebrew club member or sell it online. The ticket is a pretty sought after item so I don't think it should be much of a problem having another!
Thanks Nancy and sorry I don't have a better solution for you guys.
Cheers,
Brady
