Anyone interested in brewing some test batches with the East Coast Yeast Farmhouse Brett?
The yeast pitches are being provided for free by Omega Yeast Labs. The only thing is that you will need to provide feedback on the yeast (flavor/aroma profiles) as well as brewing stats like ferm temps, ferm duration, attenuation, etc.
If anyone is interested let me know ASAP and when you plan to brew.
This yeast strain supposedly originated from Brasserie Fantôme. Here is a brief description from the ECY website:
Strain: ECY03
Farmhouse Brett (saison blend)
Saison Brasserie blend with a pure Brettanomyces isolate from a small but fascinating producer of saison. Produces a fruity and funky profile with some acidity gradually increasing over time.
I might be interested. I'd just like to know what kind of feedback they are looking for since this would be the first time aI brew saison and provide feedback in a yeast strain
Americo,
You would basically need to describe how the yeast performed and under what parameters. So that would mean describing the flavors, aromas and other characteristics of the beer that the yeast may have imparted; as well as what your brewing process was and how you fermented the beer (ferm lag, OG, FG, attenuation, etc). This would give some indication on the performance of the yeast and whether it would be worth bringing that strain into full commercial production based on our test batch results.
Sweet! I will happy to take part. In about two weeks I was thinking of makinga 10 gallon batch Saison. Would that be alright?
I'd be game for this too Eric.
Fucking in! Tis' the season!
Hi Eric. The beer I used this yeast with is finally done carbonating and I'm gonna try one tonight. I have the numbers for them and would like to give them some to try. Should I just send them to you or do you want to give me his email. Thanks again for setting this up!
