Just a couple of questions: discounts and fermenting space

Hey all,

I'm super excited to end my brewing drought here soon - think the last time I brewed was at the very beginning of April and I'm gettin' the shakes.

Received my membership card today (thanks for the quick shipment there) and blown away by all the partners you have working with the club. My first question: I'm headed out west to a family birthday party on Saturday where the Bolingbrook B&G is a hop, skip, and jump away - should I be able to get that 10% there, or is that strictly for the downtown locations?

Second Q: With either the lagering fridge or temp-controlled brew room, how does anyone here ferment around 58-60F (or do you)? Kolsch is one of my favorite styles to brew, so I'm just planning my brew schedule out and seeing if this is feasible in the brew space.

Thanks in advance, I look forward to getting to meet, hang out, and share beers with the lot 'o ya.

Hi, Kyle. Welcome!

Hi, Kyle. Welcome!

I can't answer the temp question (we do have a lager fridge that people have done kolsch in but I don't know the exact temp).

As far as discount, you could try getting it out in the burbs. We reached out to the two Chicago proper locations individually but I have a feeling that it's a company-wide policy that home brew clubs get discounts as long as they have a club/member card.

There is currently a lager in

There is currently a lager in the lager fridge. Whenever that is done the temp can be adjusted for a kolsch. There are no firm rules about the fridge. Just shoot messages to the forum  to see what is in there and the plans are. I think its tied up at lager temp for a few months.

Yest B&G will accept the club discount everywhere.

I've got some lagers in the

I've got some lagers in the lager fridge currently that need a few more weeks in there. One possible solution to achieve your desired temps is to check the temp in various places around the Ferm room. By choosing a place for your carboy closer to the a/c side and on the floor you can achieve lower than normal temps, higher and closer to the door is usually a bit warmer. The temp stratification might not be as much as before because there are a lot of fans going but that has worked for me in the past to get closer to my desired temps. I'm not sure if anyone else is in the lager fridge currently besides me, but I'll let you know when mine are done, probably 2-3 more weeks.

Awesome, thanks guys. I was

Awesome, thanks guys. I was just curious - need to brew some quick turn-around ales to get my pipeline back in check, so there's no rush. Heck, after that I might need to get a bock going for the winter regardless, so no rush at all.

Was merely just curious!
