Hello, CHAOS!
For those of you who don't know, Noah Himmel of Gino's East took a real shining to CHAOS a couple years ago and reached out to us about a collab. After some discussion and now that the brewpub is up and running, it sounds like they're ready to start working with us more regularly and more closely (I just got off the phone with Kevin McMahon, head brewer at Gino's, who's excited about working with us!).
Some of you may remember the wheat competition I held at the brewhouse last June. As the collab now stands, CHAOS will be a farm system of sorts for Gino's beer recipes. From time to time, we as a club choose the best recipes among our home brewers; Kevin will then scale them up and brew them (with the help of the homebrewer whose recipe it was!); they'll put it on tap at the Gino's Brewpub on LaSalle; and, ideally, CHAOS folks - but, *especially*, the homebrewer whose recipe is on tap - spend some time at the brewpub interacting with customers and explaining brewing in general and the recipe on tap specifically with them.
There are several of us who have been involved since the beginning who will stay on but I'm definitely looking for some new blood to help out with this collab. So, if you're interested (or if you just want to know more about the collab and have questions), post up here and let me know!
Cheers,
Jim
Jim - this sounds awesome!
I'm very interested in helping with this collab! thanks -brandon
Now that I'll be working in the city, I'm definitely interested.
Sounds great. I've worked with breweries on selecting and brewing gold-medal winning beers from the Charlie Orr Chicago Cup competition and would be happy to help with this. Maybe they'd like to have a plan for the next year, moving through some styles that are interesting yet would be commercially saleable? We could schedule a club-only competition for every other month, publicize the styles well ahead of time so club members could brew for it. Something like that.
I don't know if Ginos is interested, but this could also qualify them to enter the pro-am at GABF.
However this works out, I'd be happy to help with it, in whatever way would be helpful. It sounds like fun. I could help organize the next club-only competition for this.

If we wanted, I could recruit a few National+ judges from outside the club to do the judging. That could be cool.

Right on! Thanks for your interest, Guys!
Keep tossing out ideas; the more, the better!
I don't have time to commit to new projects right now, but my office is right by Gino's. Can I help by meeting you lot for a drink after work? ;-)
That sounds like a plan, Brock!

I am really interested and I can help on any project/collab.
I'd be interested in helping out
The emperor is not as forgiving as i am
I'm a new member but long time follower of the club. My office is by Ginio's and I don't live far from the brewhouse. Would love to be involved and help in anyway I can.
One way to bring new recipes to the table might at the beginning might be to have a few competition/candidate beers at the different events chaos holds. This way the beers get showcase and perhaps judged.
Wow. Hell, yeah. Thanks for all the volunteers.
I'm meeting with Kevin on Monday and will bring you guys up to speed therafter.
I'll raise my hand as a judge volunteer. If you have a ton of judges, you're welcome also to put me elsewhere if that's more helpful.
Cheers!
I'm definitely interested in being involved.
Matthew
