Hello,

For those of you that weren't at the White Labs presentation at CHAOS last week. We have the opportunity to purchase a rare yeast strain direct from White Labs. We'd need to purchase 40 vials to be able to place the order. We'd avoid any shipping costs because it can be sent direct to our local rep Sara and we'd be able to get our hands a rare strain not available to the public. It must be the same strain and it must be at least 40 vials.

These are the top 3 options for a versatile strain that is not normally accessable to homebrewers or the USA market. Sara recommended these and a few of us reviewed the brochure and agreed these would be good options for our club. Please make a selection of which strain you'd want, the highest voted strain wins. Then we'll be able to purchase at least 40 packs of it.

Questions? Let me know! Nanc

WLP011 - European Ale Yeast
Malty, Northern European-origin ale yeast. Low ester production, giving a clean profile. Little to no sulfur production. Low attenuation helps to contribute to the malty character. Good for Alt, Kolsch, malty English ales, and fruit beers.
*very verrsatile works well with English and German styles

WLP017 - Whitbread II Ale Yeast
Traditional mixed yeast culture. British style character, slightly fruity, with a hint of sulfur production. This yeast can be used for many different beer styles. The most traditional choices would be English style ales including milds, bitters, porters, and English style stouts. North American style ales will also benefit from fermentation with WLP017. The beer will clear easily.
*English styles accross the board from browns, bitters, to dark beers... think of Stout night.

WLP028 - Edinburgh Scottish Ale Yeast
Scotland is famous for its malty, strong ales. This yeast can reproduce complex, flavorful Scottish style ales. This yeast can be an everyday strain, similar to WLP001. Hop character is not muted with this strain, as it is with WLP002.
*Great for barrel aged beers too... think of Stout night.

Interesting... it must be

Interesting... it must be that they are not available in PurePitch format then... which is what we would get in our group purchase and why we'd need 40 to make it viable.  http://www.whitelabs.com/yeast/innovation
