Nielsen-Massey’s 3rd Annual Homebrew Challenge is now live and accepting entries! This is the only competition that is run by CHAOS members for CHAOS members. As a club we financially benefit from the competition, the more people that sign-up the more money that comes back to our club. It’s a very important and exciting opportunity to spread the word about our club and draw awareness to the competition, Nielsen-Massey and to exercise all our educated BJCP taste testing. Our success relies solely on the return efforts that we put forth... and that’s why we need you!
We need you to sign-up to enter in a brew!
We need you to Judge the competition!
We need you to be an ambassador and spread the word to other homebrewers!
(Please add any other clubs that I am missing or that you'd like to add to reach out to... or home-brew shops!)
Jim Vondracek has done an awesome job spreading the word to BOSS members, (and he even did it without being asked!). We already have 5 members from BOSS signed up!
Can you be an ambassador and spread the word about the competition? Do you have friends in other clubs or are you also a member of another club? Can you attend another club meeting in the Chicago area and represent CHAOS and explain the competition, get people excited about it and have them sign-up? If so, we need YOU!

Here is the link for the PDF with all the competition info, but please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions. A bonus benefit from winning/placing in this year's competition is being able to serve your award winning beer at CFF Festiv-Ale next year too! It is also our hopes that in the near future we’ll have a local Chicago area brewery that will brew the winning beer, so this competition is only building momentum... get on board and be a part of it now!
*Please note we are only able to accept 100 entries, within the two combined categories.
Cheers! Nancy
I can do Brixie's on October 14th.
Awesome, thanks Ken!
I'll do prairie moon on the 15th!
You ROCK John, thanks!
Got 3 people's info and cash. How do I get them signed up and what do with money?
Click on the link in the first post. We have a regular competition site.
That's great! Thanks Matt!
Did you pass out the flyers? The brewers should sign-up just as they do for any competition site. The flyers have the site address listed on there and you can click on them as paid, but they will need to sign up to put their beer info and create their password/login for the site.
BUmp!
We need more people to sign-up.
Can you help entice people to register their beer and sign-up yourself too?
We have only till the end of October to make the final push to get brewers to sign-up for the competition.
Let me know if you can help... It's fun!
Thanks,Nancy
BuMp!
We need you! Sign-up for the competition and to spread the word!
It's fun!
Cheers,
Nancy
Nancy, the flyer says the extract was already distributed, so I'm not sure how that's going to work, but my next club beer will be a porter with vanilla and lactose.
If you want to put up the extract and the entry fee you're welcome to bottle some off the tap for the competition.
Boolish,
This competition is hosted by CHAOS. We are the ones putting the competition together. I'm aware what the flyer says and yes Festiv-Ale was one distribution point, but we are the hosts for this competition and we (CHAOS) have the extracts for distribution through then end of Oct.
I will not pay to submit your beer. I brew my own beer and have done so for this competition. If you would like to enter your beer in the competition, GREAT! But you'll need to pay for it yourself.
If you are still confused you can send me a private email.
If you want to help promote our competition and by doing so, attend one of the other Chicago area Homebrew club meetings that I have listed out on the spread sheet on CHAOS behalf and get people to sign-up for the competition, GREAT!
Thanks, Nancy
Shit, I didn't know this was a competition. It's on. I'm brewing tonight and will grab the stuff to distribute to the 20 new entries I sign up. Ken, I can return the stuff to the brewhouse as early as Friday afternoon. I am kegging on Saturday, so it would be easier to drop it off then. Let me know what's better for you, Ken.
Everything is a competition... It's even a competition to get people to understand this is a competition!
Good luck!
BUMP!
