Welcome to Stout and Chili Night V!
For those of you new to CHAOS or our parties, S+CN was our first party, is our biggest, and (in my opinion) the best! We always have our biggest turnout and generally the most amount of beers submitted. That being said, we'll need more volunteers, beer and food than ever to help us make our 5th iteration of this party as bad-ass as you'd expect!
Edit 1/11/16. Some changes and additions:
This will be a people's choice competition with a trophy prize!
Chili capped at 8 entries, plus chilis from Local Option and Flossmoor Station. Chili makers please plan for 3-4 gallons to ensure we have enough for everyone. You will be compensated up to $40 per chili. Please save receipts.
I am still looking for people to help run this event. If you are looking to become more involved in the club, are new, or are looking to make a run for alchemist in the future, please see below for open poisitons.
This thread will serve as a general planning area around S+CN with separate, specific threads below. I will update this post as needed.

This thread is a work in progresss... please let me know if things need to be changed/edited.
a) I can't believe we went with "Tap & Gas Master" instead of MASTER OF POPPETS
b) Is there a list somewhere to solicit CO2 tanks and regulators?
Brock, the CO2 tank and line list is on the right hand side of the volunteer signup sheet.
Somehow missed that. Thanks Kyle
Who's interested in Master of Gas and Social Media/Press relations?
Can someone please post the signup sheet for the beers being brewed? I can't seem to find it.
** EDIT: Nevermind. I didn't see the tabs on the spreadsheet.
Also, there's only 12 beers listed thus far on that list. Why is there not a bigger push to get more beers brewed? Time is ticking away ...
Good reminder, Brandon! My Irish Stout is in the cask and conditioning in the ferm room. It shouldn't leak, but if anyone notices it leaking, you can either give the plastic keystone a whack with a hammer or let me know (my number's on the tag). Real Ale!
www.singingboysbrewing.com
Still some spots for chili! It looks like we need a vegan one!
Also, there are some volunteer spots to be filled. If you have friends who would like free admission to the party, they can volunteer for two shifts of Matt or Stevens' choosing.
how many Chili entries are you taking? I'm considering making something. there going to be a competition with the chili?
Yes. it will be people's choice, voted with either tickets or tokens. I'll know more about the amount of chilis were going to allow after tonight's meeting. I don't think we'll need over 10 (at 7 now).
Hey guys, we're capping the entries at 8 as we will have 2 chilis from a brwery as well as Local Option. With that being said, I will be happy to forefit my spot if someone else wants to paticipate. Please let me know!
Edit: we are at 8
My work schedule changed and I'm not off on friday and sat anymore, so I cant bring chilli. That opens up at least one spot. I also have to update my volunteering as I can't be there before 8, if not 9.
Okay, thanks for letting us know Chris (Kris?). We'll look forward to seeing you there!
Edited the top post, but if you're too lazy here's the changes:
This will be a people's choice competition with a trophy prize!
Chili capped at 8 entries, plus chilis from Local Option and Flossmoor Station. Chili makers please plan for 3-4 gallons to ensure we have enough for everyone. You will be compensated up to $40 per chili. Please save receipts.
I still need a gas/tap master and someone to help with "social media/press relations".
I can help with social media and press relations. This would be a good week for that for me, next week gets crazy work-wise. I've already put an announcement on homebrewtalk.com. Instead of reinventing the wheel for the rest of it, does anyone have a plan or list of contact that we've used for previous events?
www.singingboysbrewing.com
Thanks Jim! I would check with Jim C for that. I also know that he has put word out through some other avenues as well.
I'll coordinate with Jim C.

So is there a need for one more chili entry? There's a friend I have in mind, one that comes to lots of the parties but is not a member. Or do we want to keep this in house?
Is it too late to add another beer to the beer list? I have 3 gallons left of my coconut chocolate milk stout that I am more than happy to donate. It is marked in the lager fridge atm.
John, they can enter, please make sure that they make enough. We're looking for a minimum of 3 gallons.
Grizwald - yes you can still enter. We'll cap these about a week before the event, and it's based on stephen's real estate with the menu as well as gas supply. I Just added more spots for beer so you're good to go.
Matt, Steven, et al. Please make sure to ping me when the menu is cut off so I can start doing UnTappd.
Are we getting the CO2 tanks filled on Saturday?
I can take the blue power ranger on a CO2 run on Saturday. For those who need a refill, I would advise them to leave their equipment at the brewhouse by Friday night.
I'll be at the brewhouse by 1 pm on Saturday to help with setup and can help Rob with the CO2 run, if needed.

Thanks, guys, was just curious. I may have to go get a refill myself. Think I may have run out last night and beers were only on gas for ~24 hours. Dang.
Stout and Chili Night 2016 is now included on all of our normal online venues. Woot!
www.singingboysbrewing.com
Just a couple misc items. First, the event description on our own website still says, "stay tuned for detais." Also, the volunteer and beer sign up spreadsheets should be listed on the event page for easy access.
Can the Coffee School graphic be changed so that John Gammal's beer also reflects a cold press addition? Thanks.
I want to drop off my pot of chili on Saturday morning instead of bringing it when we arrive in the evening. Will anyone be at the clubhouse around 8am or so? Or where should I stow it until someone does arrive?
Does anyone know if guests can purchase the friends membership at the door to attend the party or does it need to be purchased online ahead of time? These are beer friends that don't want to brew but want to hang out and come to the parties.
If someone shows up to an event *without* a membership, we make them stand outside and do it on their phone. So, best to get the Trial Membership beforehand; even if it's minutes before leaving the house to head over to CHAOS.
Stew, they cannot purchase a membership at the door as we can't accept cash. So please have them join online before the event. That way (ideally) they will already be in the member database and entry is that much easier.
Oops--sorry Jim. I didn't mean to talk over you
No worries! Your answer was better! :-)
Great thanks for the info guys. I'll let my friends know.
I went to the BH on Tuesday to take inventory of the liquid and gas lines available for this party. Given the number of kegged beers on the list, we are only three gas lines short. In my count I included the following:
6 lines for the keezer
8 lines from the two club gas manifolds
4 lines from me
2 lines from Mr. Boland
4 lines from Mr. Omura
4 lines from members with beers in the lager fridge
We seem to have a surfeit of available taps, but if anyone could spare their gas/regulator we wouldn't have to worry about gas until after people start eating the chili.
I have a 5lb tank and regulater that should be mostly full (carbed 1 keg off of it so far). I can bring that in. Added to the google doc.
EDIT: picnic tap available too
Are you looking for gas lines or liquid lines?
For the people who are making chili, I'm assuming that we are just submitting our receipts for the food purchased and we'll be reimbursed. Please confirm.
Yep, Matt's post #14 above.
Hey Brewsters,
I have organized the beer list spreadsheet into categories, still missing some ABVs and descriptions. I have to get the menu completed today, so I'll make up shit if you do not post your final beer info in the spreadsheet – DO NOT POST INFO HERE OR PM ME, USE THE SPREADSHEET.

I moved Matt's Coffee Amber to coffee school.
Matt, Are you still planning on making chili tomorrow night at the brewhouse? What time are you thinking of showing up?
Anyone else? I was going to bring some whales to drink but i guess if no else wants to come make chili at the brewhouse... :-P
@kyle looking for gas lines. Just edited my post.
Hi everyone! James, I put my tanks on the spreadsheet, I think. I dropped off a 20 pound and 2.5 pound tank, 2 single regulators, and 1 picnic tap. They are in a bucket to the right of the ToP and all have my name on them. Both tanks are low and probably in need of a fill. Stephen, I was not able to acess your spreadsheet, but my beers are in the back of the ferm room and good to go. Good luck setting up and thanks for all the work you're doing for stout night 2016!
I have a tank (just filled!) and two extra lines if they're still needed. Let me know.
Kyle, thanks for moving Matt's coffee beer. You beer schoolers have the nicely remodeled Grand Heineman Bar to yourselves (hopefully the paint and varnish fumes will have left the room.)
Thanks John and Kyle!
Hi Guys, thanks for all of the questions.
Cynthia, I doubt anyone will be there at 8. I'll likely be there around 10.
Kyle, yes, please bring your extra tank.
Grizwald, I'll be making mine tomorrow morning. I have to work until midnight, I may stop by after.
We still need volunteers for a couple of things. I'm going to send out a message to everyone soon.
I was able to get off work early(ish), so I'm planning to be there at 4:30-5 and I am happy to help setup or do anything needed. Just fyi.
I also can't edit the volunteer spreadsheet. Ill be there at 4 pm and can work the door at the end of the night and wherever else.
We're good to go on Untappd. I just used the beer spreadsheet to populate Untappd.
The site was really wonky, giving me errors that the page was not found when I tried submitting beers. So, there were duplicates that I deleted but need admin approval to delete. I hope they're gone before tomorrow's event. If not, it's not the end of the world.
