Internet Down / Solution

Here brewing today and the internet was down again. It connected fine to the router (Chaos_5GZz) but it didn't have an internet connection. I tried to power it down for 10ish minutes but I had no luck.

However, I did figure out that our ATT&T modem doubles as a router as well! And it works great. Below is the login info (also wrote it on the SSID paper by the fire extinguisher). Not sure why the other router is acting up. Also, I found it quite peculiar that when I shut off the power to the router/modem, the SSID of "Chaos_5GHz" stayed on the whole time.

Can someone double check they

Can someone double check they are still seeing the 5gz connection even though the router is powered off? It's one of three things that caused this:

1: it was a cached connection that showed up in your list even though it wasn't broadcasting (about 95% chance)

2: We have a legacy router set up somewhere broadcasting that with no internet connection (4%?)

3: someone set up a rouge access point and is scraping our traffic (1% chance).

Next person at the club, please confirm that there is no broadcasting 5gz chaos?

Kris - during that 10 minutes

Kris - during that 10 minutes that both the router & modem has no power it was broadcasting. They're both back on but the one working with Internet access is the "AT&T" modem/router.

Ok, so the chances of it

Ok, so the chances of it being a 'scraper' are really low. But, that said, I would not use it if I was anyone at the club. I was just at club last week and am out of town the next, so it'll be end of april by the time I get there.

Someone want to do this:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&...

and then sort of play "hot/cold" until you find the location of the wireless router that's broadcasting that signal.  Use the signal strength feature (more signal, closer you are).

There is a WiFi range

There is a WiFi range extender towards the rear of the building to cover the parking lot and Ferm room. Guessing that was what you were seeing.
