Changed a couple of air locks and punched the shit out of that fruit. Be careful how much you agitate it. It only took a couple of swirls before the mead was ready to escape the 6.5 gallon carboys. And luckily Rich's bucket was able to keep it's lid on and not expose itself to the other young worts in the room
Does anyone know where the box of nutrient is. I'm at the brewhouse to do the thursday pm addition, but cannot find the box that has the measured amounts.
Were going to need as many glass carboys as we can get for this. Can everyone invloved in this please try and gather at least 1 up label what its for and leave on carboy rack.
Ive racked a few to see how it would go. And alot of fruit gunk gets left at the bottom of each but we whould still be able to fill the barrel.
The only two I have are in use at the moment unfortunately. Maybe this would be a good time to go through the carboys on the rack and comandeer any ones that have been abandoned.
Ok i forgot to update you all on this barrel. About a month ago i took out 5 gallons to fit in all the black and raspberries. To that portion i put a bunch of coconuts, I'll eventually bottle it up and split the bottles to everyone.
Withthe rest i added in the berries and it is done how quickly can everyone get kegs there to put theirs into. Fair warning portions are probably going to be small on this due to all the fruit
Actually, I do have one that I used for Fuzzy Wuzzy. That was it's only use, so there's no scratches. Do you think it'll be okay for this if I PBW and Star San the shit out of it?
I have a plastic 6.5 gallon carboy you could use for a week or two, Jeff. I also have a keg, but I won't have time to clean and get it to the brewhouse till monday. Will that work? Also, when will those car it's for the mead be free? Is that what we'll be putting into this barrel?
No problem, Jeff! I'll be able to bring a keg for mine and the aforementioned carboy for Jeff tomorrow. I have to be in Morton grove around 1:15 or so, but can help until then.
Everything went great today. We all got around 3-3.5 gallons. Chuck i put yours in one of my carboys and marked you on it. All carboys i just put seran wrsp on them so get to them asap and bottle etc.
All we are going to empty the mead that was placed inti this barrel on nov. 5th around 12-1:00 have a clean keg ready and marked can anyone supply a keg for the clubs batch too?

Please post here if you have one to use.
How long for how long will you need the glass carboy?
WE will need the carboy untill the beer that's in the barrel comes out. Most likly another 7-8 months.
I have a 5 gallon glass carboy that I can use for my batch. When do you plan on transferring this?

Rich, that's a great idea. We can utilize all the unlabeled ones. It probably won't be enough, but there are at least five or six.
I have a 6 gallon glass carboy on the rack and Evan said we could use his 6 gallon glass carboy as well.

I can drop one off tomorrow
All of my carboys are tied up at the moment, so I'll need to buy a new one. Probably sometime next week, unless I can borrow one.
Actually, I do have one that I used for Fuzzy Wuzzy. That was it's only use, so there's no scratches. Do you think it'll be okay for this if I PBW and Star San the shit out of it?
Its a risk but up to you. I may have some to use if we're close and i can get it empty tomorrow
I may have to borrow one if you plan to empty it tomorrow. I don't want to test on something like this. Maybe Rich's batch, but not mine....
I'll be at the brewhouse tomorrow with carboy/bucket ready... thanks for update

Yes if we get enough cayboys kegs i want to get it emptied tomorrow maybe around 11-12. Then we will doo a quick rinse and fill it with the mead
Thanks, John, that would be great!
