I was at the brew house today and wanted to post about some things. Figured maybe this thread could even be used for folks who come in over the next week to drop photo's so everyone knows where we are at?
I dropped off the PA:
It's a good amp, but it's old. The volume knobs (labled gain), will "pop" when you turn them. So it's best to use it to set the "max" volume and then control the volume on the phone/laptop (so turn media device volume up to max, and then turn this until it's loud enough and control volume with the phone/laptop after that). I left an adapter, but no aux cable. Please bring an aux cable to check it... remember the one we use for the stero is a splitter cable and won't work for this.
Words of warning: this thing is no joke. If you crank it to max it should be plenty loud... be careful with the "boost" button. If it's not loud enough use it (turn it down, press boost, turn back up), but when you hit that thing the sound will "double" so don't blow your ears out...
Also left some rat poison behind the tool boxes. Pretty hard for a dog to get back there and these are built specifically to make it hard for a dog or child to get to the bait, but beware if your pup is sniffing around the tool boxes.
Bought mouse traps (mariano's didn't have rat traps...) and I forgot bait. I don't know if it's even worth putting these down. I saw our rats. They are cat sized. Might be cruel to use these actually...
Also I cleaned the Keezer:
Thanks guys! Looking forward to the party.
Oh, and the barrell staves look awesome!
Wow, thanks for doing all that Kris!!! I'll be by tonight with a cable to check out the amp.
Actually, since we already have a thread going, if anyone is available Friday evening for about 1- 1.5 hours, I would like to get some pre party set up accomplished. Basically, just removing all the pots, counter flow chiller, etc from the brew area; organizing the tables; and moving the keezer to the front of the ferm room. Exact same set up as Stout Night.
I'm doing something for my wife's birthday that evening so won't be able to stop by. If some of you want to get together around 6:00 or 7:00 that would be awesome. Thanks!
I'm going to likely take Friday off and brew whilst smoking the meat.
I could use some help with food and equipment Saturday morning. Specifically, I'll need:
- 2 Cleavers to chop chicken
- A high-quality juicer something like this:
I'll be making beef Barbacoa, shredded chicken, Nopales (cactus) and Poblanos for the meatless. Prolly do lime and cilantro rice too. I'll likely have either ground beef or chorizo as a back-up and depending on price.
Sounds great, Matt. Chuck is getting a tray of rice and a tray of beans with the tamales, so keep that in mind if you start to get to swamped with food.
Thanks for getting the rat poison, Kris.
As a matter of procedure, if the vermin actually bites it, won't it start decomposing and stinking up the brewhouse?
@James. Yes. That is how it works unfortunately. "Live" traps are an option... but they are expensive. Please be aware of the smell of "rot" and dispose of our poor friends in the garbage outside (avoiding touching it when moving it would wise...)
Kris, I'm listening to my iPod through the amp and it works great. Thank you!
Awesome Jeff
I have a new shower curtain and curtain hooks for the bathroom (to hide our storage) Any chance someone has an extra shower curtain rod? The kind that "twists" open? If not I'll try to get one tomorrow on my way down.
I stopped by the brew house yesterday to check on some of my beers and one of the guys from Reed said they will have 10-20 sheets of masonite next to their dumpster that we can put down as flooring if it rains to keep the mud at bay.
Thanks, guys!! Shower curtain will be great and it's looking like we'll need the board for some kind of flooring unless the rain has passed by 1200.
Guys
An event I was going to be doing for my brand got cancelled (it was to be next week) and I now have lots of extra beer, mind if I bring my whole setup and serve 4 beers?
Hi Mark, thanks for the offer, but, I honestly don't think we have the room for more beer.
