Here is an anonymous poll to vote for the date of the upcoming party. Please vote and offer opinions advice in the comments.
Thanks!
22nd is the bus trip
Have the two members who volunteered to lead the event, to be responsible for it, agreed to this poll? If yes, great. If no, I think this poll should be taken down - Jim and Reed have agreed to lead and run the event, we should let them do so.

What Jim said.
The emperor is not as forgiving as i am
I'm out of the state if it moves to weekend of 10/22
I encouraged Kris to take a more active roll in the planning without giving him specifics. I REALLY apprecaite you stepping up, Kris. I'm sorry for throwing you under the bus here!
But, yeah, date is set at 10/8 (I have actually been explicity instructed NOT to change the date).
What we need movement on immediately is raffle prizes, beer, and side dishes. Reed is working on food in the meantime. I (and others) are working on guest breweries.
Who explicitly instructed you of that and why? This all seems a little "nah, we just arbitrarly set a date and we can't be bothered to look at it again..." can someone please give a better answer here.
Also, For the like 5th time; this kind of stuff is why new member don't do anything at the club. I helpfully put a poll; (just a damn poll) to get some advice/insight from the memebers and the third post is implying I did something wrong and telling me to take it down.
Not cool team.
Kris - you put up a poll about an event without talking with the two members who had volunteered to be responsible and lead the event. That is what is not cool and definitely not collaborative.
I'm also going to call you on the "this is why new members don't do anything at the club" statment - that's just not true. I'm a new member - I haven't even been a member for two years. Mark, who helped with the fermenter cleanup project, has been a member for a few months. Just off the top of my head, some newish members who have done a lot for the club just in the past couple of months - Todd, Brandon, Chris, and ironically, one of the leads for the event, Reed, has only been a member for a few months.
New members do a ton for the club.

That's not my experaince, regarding "new members don't help"
And I don't like your tone Jim. You're not in charge and you made a bad assumption here.
1: I did ask. I was literally told to step up and "drive" this.
2: it's a helpful poll. period. Don't snark at people trying to help in the forums please.
3: I don't think you can critise me about being collabrative, considering the above.
I don't like your tone, either, Kris. I've never said I'm in charge and in fact have said the opposite - that Jim and Reed are the leads for the event. In his note above, Jim says what he does not need help with (the date) and what he does need help with (raffle prizes, beer and side dishes). That is my only point about the poll to find a new date.
Regarding new members pitching in, I gave you five new members off the top of my head who help the club in a variety of ways. Right now, I can come up with another five without thinking too hard. We are truly blessed to have members who step up and pitch in - I think its one of our biggest strengths and one of the reasons I'm delighted to be part of the club.
I don't doubt that you feel that your efforts aren't appreciated and I don't mean to minimize or dismiss your feelings. But your statement that new members don't do anything at the club is a little offensive to me and other new members who do help out.

Yeah, I have to apologize to all involved here. This was my fault as I was unclear with Kris.
Kris, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe in an e-mail you told me that since no one finalized a design and no one approved a lager brew day for last month, you've taken a back seat. You were the lead and sole point man for the glassware; doesn't sound very proactive and leader-like to take a back seat just because people were quiet.
I did indeed say "feel free to take a front seat and drive" but I was very unclear: I meant in the context of brew days and designs/glassware. It wasn't an "OK" to do whatever, esp. date-wise, since I took lead and SUGGESTED a date months ago for discussion in our e-mail thread. Because I got so much shit on the forum for starting to plan Oktoberfest in February, I took the discussion offline and you, Matt, and I had discussed and finalzied a date. So, we three are the guilty parties (if any!) as regards the "nah, we just arbitrarly set a date and we can't be bothered to look at it again..." Furthermore, when the Board retreat minutes came out (in May, I believe) and when I made the event listing (in June), there was absolutely no dissention. I'm sure the date of GABF had already been set by February and the conflict could have - e.a.s.i.l.y. - been brough up then (or March, or April, or May, or June, or July, or even most of August).
So, everyone, please let's get the discussion onto productive matters and let's drop the issue of the date. CHAOS parties never suck so this is bound to be a good time. It's not going to be, however, if we're arguing about the date until Ocdtober 7th.
Thanks for the clarification Jim C. Kris, nobody knew you had spoken to Jim C. and there was fear that this vote was only going to cause confusion and slow the progression of a party that is already approaching and for which the date has been set for awhile. Thanks for trying to make this party perfect, but as I have found in the many planning events I have done, there is no perfect date. There are always a ton of conversations going around in this forum and they can't include everyone, Kris. The club is too big and nothing would ever move forward. Please don't take it so personally. Nobody is trying to marginalized you or your efforts. We just want this party to move forward and the drivers are currently Jim C and Reed. They need all the help they can get and we all would appreciate some bad ass mugs and delicious and insanely strong cider. Please don't make such sharp and personal attacks towards Jim V. or anyone else. His initial thread was asking if the two people planning the party knew about the poll to change the date of the party. That was your time to say "yeah, Jim C. did tell me to drive this". Then Jim C would be able to step in and clarify. Now, we are so off topic and our energy is being negatively directed at each other. This is not CHAOS and if this were a beer it would be a drain pour. Everyone, let's remember that were here to celebrate beer and the people it brings together.
I voted for the 8th, because I thought what this thread really needed was a tie.
I've been remiss to not comment on this earlier. We had a date picked, yes it conflicts with GABF and the marathon. And as far as I know, yes we have a few members who go to each. It's not the majority. Being October, I'm sure we will have members attending weddings the following weeks, and traveling for work, and so forth. Kris, thanks for taking people's temperature on other dates. There is nothing wrong with that. We want new members to contribute, we want old members to contribute.
Sometimes I think we don't see the forest for the trees. We're here to enjoy some beer in a spirit of sharing and fellowship. It's a great party and tons of fun, and we bring lots of people out. Let's keep it fun.
15th has my vote, I have the Marathon the 9th
