FYI, the pot that we usually use for 5 gallon batches has a valve on it that needs some love. It seriously messed up our brew last night and the valve needs to be replaced. I put a brand new valve inside the pot (not installed) that should fit it. If you get a chance, please replace it - I didn't have the time last night.

8 Gallon pot needs new valve
Matt - I just tried to take off the old valve ... on the inside of the pot is a circular piece that's securing the old valve. I tried to grip it tight enough w/the small pair of rusty vice-grips in the toolbox with no luck. I got it loose but it's not giving at this point. Maybe a larger vice-grip?
Also, the barb on the front of the new valve needs some thread seal tape to be installed properly (I couldn't find any in the tool box).
Can someone without tiny Trump hands attempt? (JK!)
You can still use it as is, just know a lot of hops will likely clog the valve and that the valve will not open/close easily. I will fix it when I'm there Sunday.
I've tried to loosen this valve many times and have been unsuccessful. What do we do if we can't get it off!
IDK what to do with that. The next step is a blowtorch to heat it up. Probably would be a terrible idea to put PB Blaster in a pot.. I can try it next week with heat.
How does the board feel about buying 2 10 gallon graduatied pots? I know many members don't like brewing in the super large pots cause of the amount you lose in boil off for a 5 gallon batch
10gals would be really helpful.
