So, after joining us for BrewBQ, Munton's was super impressed by the brew club. I had lunch with a couple of their reps last Friday and have established a partnership between them and the club. I think this is a great opportunity for us. We're still working out details, but here are the basics:
- Munton's will be able to supply us with grain for group buys and James' pilot club grain program.
- They will offer us free guest spots on UK tours of distellries and breweries. They provide these tours for the pro berweries they supply and will be included with that. It's up to us how we want to use these, but I think fundraising or competitions are perfect.
- There will be a web based app, only accessible to CHAOS members, with technical data, recipes, brewing data, etc. Also, we'll receive some technical manuals for our brewing library.
- We obviously have grain workshops in our future.
- Munton's will promote the club and our events through their social media.
- We will not be strangers to Munton's swag.
- They would like for us to provide brewing training for their sales reps. Mainly extract brewing, but I'm sure we can advance their skills to all grain, as well. (Their midwest office is in Lombard, so they are establishing a local presence.)
- Since we are a large club and have a lot of connections, we can help them out with cross promotion and getting them involved with the local craft and homebrew scenes.
They will be joining us at the September or October member meeting to talk about this and answer questions. I'll let you guys know when I receive more info!
Wow. This is awesome, Jeff! Sounds like a great relationship in the making. Thanks for making this happen and meeting with the rep.
I'm glad they were impressed with us as a club. I definitely think this will be a mutally beneficial relationship.
Wow, this is fantastic. I've never used Muntons grains, but I guess I'm going to now!
Regarding the tours, those could be great fundraisers. For higher ticket items like those, you need to be careful about a few things, I can talk with you about that when the time comes, if it would be helpful.
Also, some of their folks or reps might be interested in the off-flavor class, when the kit gets shipped and we can get that scheduled lets talk about who to contact.
Great news, Jeff!
