The two lager fermentation fridges (the low ones, across from the big unit and underneath the bar) can be set to an exact temp with digital controllers. You can look at the controller for each fridge, on the top of each fridge. I believe they are both currently set at 50F. But they can be changed. For the alt competition, we set one of them at an Alt yeast fermenting temp, I can't remember exactly now, but somewhere around 55F.
The big unit, the lagering or cold crashing fridge, is less exact. When I look at it, its usually right around 40F. You can see the gauge on the outside, high and on the right. I've never tried to adjust it, am not sure where that's located. I think most brewers would agree that if we could get it closer to 32F, that would be better for both lagering and cold crashing.
I missed that entirely, Brandon, I've been assuming that it was running as cold as it could get. If we could do what Kyle is suggesting, turning down the built-in temp knob and hooking up a digital controller to keep it from freezing, at a steady 32F, that would be great.
Kyle, I think there *may* be a third digital controller at the brew house, maybe on or around the bar? The one that's hooked up on that fridge now is mine, which I'm happy to lend for the good of all. I'll poke around and see if that third one is there or if I'm just making that up. Someone else might have one at home, too.

Last time I tried to turn down the lager fridge I successfully made everything in there a solid ice block. At least it made for REALLY clear beer! :)
I find it fluctuates between 34-40.
we should really get a temp controller for that one, too. probably help out the compressor as well as keeping a more stable temp.
