Hello Chaos,
Empirical has put together details to their homebrew fest which will take place during Chicago Craft Beer Week. Details below:
Here are the details for the homebrew event at Empirical.
1. The event will be from 1 - 4 pm on May 20th.
2. We would like each club to bring 4 kegs.
3. We will be charging an entry fee at the door for the public. Half the money will got to a local charity and the other half will go to the clubs to help with expenses.
4. The will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place chosen by the public. Empirical is putting together trophies for this.
5. Empirical will supply tables, chairs, ice, dump buckets. All the clubs need to bring are their jockey boxes, beer and gas.
6. Empirical is working on a food truck for the event.
7. The event will be in the brewery space at Empirical's production facility
Currently 2 brewers are in, and we're looking to bring the number up to 4. Don't know if anyone wants to commit to winning this thing, in which case, the hack fraud will have to come out. I want to try to at least curate a fest menu that makes sense.
Reply if you want to brew or collaborate on the two as-to-be-determined beers.
I'm into collaborating on this.
Hey Eric,
You're in!. Jay and I are collaborating on rounding out the last 2 beers on the menu and we would love to have you in the fold.
Do we get free entry if we're pouring? askingforafriend
I'm not sure, Kyle. Let me find out.
What is being brewed for this?
Eric,
Kyle has a festenbier, Ben R has an ESB.
That leaves 2 slots, which will include a fruited berliner, and probably a NEIPA. The actual ingredients are up for debate, and we have a couple weeks to figure out what we want to do.
Are you in the "fests" channel on slack?
I am now.
Ok great. We'll nail down something a little more concrete at the meeting tomorrow if Jay Kyle and Ben show up.
I'll be there and let y'all try the first half of the beer. I'm happy with it...hopefully the other half came out just as good (different yeast).
Ok so the Empirical guy has told me that we will get 1 ticket per brewer. At current count, that's 5, unless someone can't go and wants to let someone go in their place.
Sweet! I won't feel bad being there, then. Game on.
