 Competition

NHC Open Enrollment Application Starts Jan. 22

Get ready to compete in the world's largest beer competition and test your homebrewing mettle!

The 2019 National Homebrew Competition open enrollment application starts January 22. The competition is held across 13 first round judging centers in the United States. First round winners advance to the final round at AHA Homebrew Conin Providence, R.I.

The Competition Open-Enrollment Application Period opens on January 22, 2019 at 10 a.m. MTand closes on January 29, 2019 at 3 p.m. MT.All applications may be continuously changed until the application closes.

Please take time to review the Rules & Regulations for entering the National Homebrew Competition and the Important Dates & Deadlines.

Reminders:

  • Application Window is open to AHA members only. Make sure your membership is up-to-date. Renew now!
  • Make sure you're subscribed to our emails! All communication for the competition is done through email including acceptance to the competition. We're not responsible for missed communication regarding important deadlines.
  • Read What is New in 2019 for the competition.
  • All applicants will be notified by February 15 with an alert indicating they've been accepted into the competition. Entrants will then have 7 days from the date of notification to pay for their entries.
  • Check out the competition's Important Dates & Deadlines.
  • Entry requests are final after the open-enrollment period (e.g. you request and received 4 entries, you must pay for 4 entries).
  • To maximize your chances, select as many judge centers as you're willing to ship to. Tip: choose all 13 first round judge centers to maximize your chances of getting into the competition.

Entry Fee Change

As part of our commitment to improve our members' experience and ensure a well-run, enjoyable competition, we've increased the entry fee by $2. The increased entry fee will allow us to continue to provide essential financial and administrative support to all 13 first round judge centers, the final round judging, and overall competition operations.

With more first round judge centers and categories in the competition than ever before, expenses on supplies, space, shipping, and printing have continued to grow. The entry fee increase will help offset those expense and continue to allow more members to enter the competition and ensure continued quality. Another area where expense have grown is with the final round judging. With the growth of Homebrew Con, the judging has moved to convention centers and added considerable costs in catering and event space expenses.

The last entry fee increase was over a decade ago. Since then, the competition has added 5 first round judge centers, 11 categories, new technologies, more personnel, and thousands of entries. We believe this growth has been a positive thing for the competition and the hobby of homebrewing.

We hope you will join us in 2019 to celebrate the homebrewing community!

Cheers,

John Moorhead, Director
National Homebrew Competition

So,  I just got that email

So,  I just got that email today.  That's a quick time window to enter and it closes down really quick.

So I'd advise everyone that's planning on entering to do so right when the site goes live.

Good luck everyone!
