Body:
Last night at the meeting we discussed what we should do for the top tier stand that was donated last year.
The options are 1. sell it or 2. put it in place and let general membership use it in the brewhouse.
It's set up now to retail around $750 from what I can tell. Used it may fetch up to $550 if we can find a local buyer.
Putting it in place would be minimal cost:
$130 for a 15 gallon hot liquor tank on ebay
~$40 for a sightglass
~80 for misc parts to plumb gas and water to it. Chuck said we have most of the parts in house now.
Total to install: $250
If we want to put it in, it could go South of brew bay 4 or in between brew bay 1 and 2. We'd use the same mash tuns and boil kettle that we've been using. There would be no Tower of Power like the current alchemist-only one has.
Brandon was questioning "why do we need this?" and "what does this do that a regular brew bay does not?" which are valid questions.
In my opinion, I think it would be a good addition to the BH for very little cost. If the desire is there, we can add on with better equipment down the road.
I'll leave this up for a week, board will have final say after that.
Whats the difference between this and the TOP? are you saying this would replace the TOP?
Or current setup is a blichmann top tier +tower of power (the tower with pump and computer). Potential addition would only be the stand, no pump
Steve, this wouldn't replace the ToP, it would either become part of brew station #4 or become a brew station #5. The stand doesn't have a recirculation pump or temp control, so it would use gravity: hot liquor on top, mash tun in the middle, then the kettle.
I want to apologize, months ago I said I would take the lead on auctioning or selling this, then I never got around to it. Mea Culpa.

FWIW - Spike Brewing in Milwaukee is having a blowout on "Blem" Brew pots and they can customize.
I have a call into them about a pot swap for something that I won at Babble Comp (10gal Pot).
