Production and Quality Control Manager
Omega Yeast Labs is looking for a Production and Quality Control Manager to lead the team in propagation of brewing yeast for commercial customers.
Omega Yeast Labs was founded in 2013 and has grown rapidly to supply brewing yeast cultures to commercial breweries and home brewers all over the US and Canada.
Title: Production and Quality Control Manager
Status: Full-time, exempt
Location: Chicago
Responsibilities:
• Manage propagation of commercial yeast pitches from inoculation to cropping.
• Perform laboratory sampling and yeast counts.
• Perform quality control analysis of outgoing pitches.
• Packaging of yeast for the home brew market.
• Cleaning and sanitization.
• Oversee Laboratory Technician staff.
• Ability to track, organize, & schedule commercial orders
Requirements:
• Passion for craft beer.
• Bachelors Degree in Microbiology or extensive brewery experience in quality control testing.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique.
• Knowledge of typical brewery CIP and transfer operations.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
• Able to lift 55 pounds repeatedly and maneuver up to 165 pounds.
• Able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
• Able to bend and kneel.
• Spending long periods of time in hotter than comfortable environments.
• Adaptable and able to efficiently manage time and tasks.
Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include 10 days vacation, jury duty, sick leave, and funeral/bereavement leave.
