I've put together a little homebrew competition that will be co-sponsored by Vanberg and Dewulf Importers. Vanberg was founded by Wendy Littlefield and Don Feinberg and is a local Chicago importer of products like Saison Dupont, Amiata, Castelain, as well as the occasional tasty lambic. Lamickx is Don's own proprietary blend of barrels that he travels to Belgium to hand select and taste. The brews are restricted to Belgian entries and I would highly suggest submitting something you've already had sitting around for a bit. Prizes include Whole Foods gift certificates and Vanberg beer Gift baskets. Here's the blurb:
Attention all home-brewers! Help us celebrate local Chicago importer Vanberg and DeWulf’s Anniversary at the Coast to Coast Toast! We’ll be putting our own unique spin on the nation-wide event by involving your grassroots efforts in the ancient art of crafting beer. Entrants may submit any beer in BJCP Categories 16-18, the Belgian styles, to the upstairs Red Star Bar. Beers should be submitted for judging on or before November 14th. Those submitting their beers on the 14th will have the chance to enjoy drink specials on specialties like Vicaris Tripel-Gueuze.
Friends and family are all invited to join the Red Star Bar staff and Vanberg co-founder, Wendy Littlefield, on the 17th from 6-8 for the announcement of the winners, where you’ll have first crack at our all-Vanberg lambic flight, featuring Lambickx de Troch 2011, Lambickx Private Domain 2012, Lambickx Kriek, and the rarely-imported De Cam Lambiek Wood Aged Vintage Ale from Gooik, Belgium.* Prizes will include Vanberg and DeWulf gift baskets and Whole Foods gift cards. We’ll also be raffling off a bottle of rare Oude Beersel Bzart Lambiek. Winners must be present on the 17th to receive their prize!
