I am interested in acquiring a barrel or three (15-30 gallon). Couple questions:
1. Is anyone interested in going in with me?
2. Can I(we) keep them at the brewhouse?
3. Can I(we) use the fact we are a non-profit group as leverage for a reduced price (or better, free)?
Thanks!
Hi Mike,
We are an IL registed not for profit, but we are not yet approved as federal tax exempt. So no, no tax breaks yet.
As for stoage at the brew house, the short answer is probably. However there are a number of logistical issues surrounding this, mostly we have a number of full barrels stacked that are imposible to move without emptying. I am finishing a sketch that shows an idea for adjusting the barrel stoarage to hold more barrels and allow all of them to be accessed individually. I think it could hold between 7 and 10 large barrels (15-54g) and 10-15 5g barrels.
But we would need to empty all the barrels to build this thing (which may be bossible as we have 2 of the 4 in between fills, one that is empty but stuck, and the last one could be emptied. The other problem is we do not have the money to build this yet, unless we can get a ton of 4x4's and 2x4's donated.
I'm going to bring this whole discussion up on the forum later today or tomorrow and it will get resolved on Sunday at the business meeting at 4:30. So please look for that discussion and stop by Sunday.
