Never done a counter pressure filler, but I have filled hundreds of bottles with the BeerGun. It's ok. I finally lost the rubber tip. If it weren't for that and the extra money to intially set it up, I would recommend it (you also need two gas lines, but I had those already with my regulator, just FYI).
Northern Brewer just came out with something (The Last Straw, maybe?) that looks like a better design. Still SS, but has more of a bottle filler function where pushing it onto something opens it up. Looks pretty cool.
I had a counter pressure filler and sold it. It was a pain to use properly. I have the Blichmann Beer Gun to fill bottles and growlers and it works great. The simple design is very efficient and you will get great results as the beer is never exposed to air, and there is minimal foam. A helpful tip I've learned is chill your bottles and the beer gun before you start, and then turn the keg pressure down to <5 psi so it slows the rate of fill and it will minimize your foam.
