5lb CO2 tank re-fills?

Hey everybody,

I'm in the process of building my kegerator and just received my 5lb CO2 tank in the mail today. It's empty, and I'm looking to get it filled (not traded in, if I can avoid it).

Where do you guys all go?

I called hardware stores, welding shops, etc.. and nobody was biting..

I know B&G does tank swaps, but I'd like to get a direct fill and hold onto my new tank if possible.

Thanks guys!

Nick

Alot depends on ambient temp.

Alot depends on ambient temp...when they fill, they fill by weight....but CO2 will expand on a warmer day and the needle will show higher pressure....the colder it is the less pressure it will have....if you put your CO2 in the keezer ck in 24 hours and you will see it will drop by 100psi if not more....

When a place refills your own

When a place refills your own tank (rather than replacing it), how far into the green on the gauge should the needle go?

I ask because I just got a 10# tank filled at NFC (for $20) and when I affixed my regulator and turned on the tank, the needle was at the very, very bottom edge of green "full" area. Did they short me some CO2?

Sorry, Jim. I tried searching

Sorry, Jim. I tried searching "CO2 refill" and nothing came up.

Guess I'll try again, thanks.

Mods go ahead and delete this thread if you can.
