So, we're going to do a bulk hop order. I believe we can only get pellets. There's a wide variety and they appear to only be quarter lb amounts. The good catch is that you'll likely pay only a 50 cents to a dollar more to get 4 times the amount for what you'd pay for an ounce at brew n grow.
Niilo's spose to be in contact with John to see if we can get any better rates than the ones on the site.
We'll have to divide out shipping once the order is placed.
Anyone who wanted hop amounts a month ago should re-request them here. I'll let Niilo organize the rest, I just wanted to get this started up.
My order: I want 4 oz. of saaz and 4 oz. of chinook.
I think supporting local connections is something we should get behind even if it costs us a few more dollars than a well-networked long-standing internet supplier. We're small and need support and the best way to do that is forge connections with other small places.
Simple earth is having their harvest this coming saturday

also we should maybe get in contact with Rich (from the WI hop growers org) that we meet at Simple Earth. It's just about hop harvesting season...I don't know if it would be a savings over what Farmhouse has (there prices are pretty good), but they'd be local, fresh, and whole leaf.
only pellets? :(

last i looked, freshops was $20/lb. unless i fucked up my math. i admit im no mathematist.

I'm looking at this thru my phone...so can't see the link, but I know that we can get hops from fresh hops at roughly 12 bucks for a pound of whole leaf...something we should look into. Maybe compare both places + shipping and see which is most economical. Also variety and type should be considered.
I'll get in on the hallertau with iggi. Could also do a 1/2 pound of cascade.
Also found more vacuum bags while packing for our move.. we def will want to break hops down and seal them.

I know Iggi wants Hallertauer.
