Morning Brewsters,
CHAOS has been invited to serve homebrew samples at Chicago Bike Revolution, a festival supporting West Town Bikes on Sat Sep 7th in Humboldt Park. If you remember New Belgium's Tour De Fat, this will be like that with lots of bike games and music all day long. Revolution Brewing is the main sponsor, so the only beer available all day will be RevBrew & CHAOS! Thankfully we'll be serving our samples for free and do not have to deal with collecting drink tokens.
Homebrew samples go fast, so I'm hoping we can get 12 kegs brewed for the event (or at least eight.) We can release beers staggered out on a schedule to make sure we do not run out of everything in a couple hours.
Supporting local charities is a goal for CHAOS, and it's cool we can help West Town Bikes, a neighbor of ours that develops youth programs for kids in the Humboldt Park area. http://westtownbikes.org/

I'll post more info about volunteer tasks and time slots once we get a schedule.

I'm brewing for this and would like to volunteer as well. That said, I might have to work that weekend & I'll know my September schedule for sure about 3 weeks prior to the date.
Thanks Brandon, if I wind up kegging a beer for you, I promise to follow instructions completely and not keg the wrong beer :-]
That being said, a return of The Pull-Out King would go over well!
I'll brew for this
I'm working on a saison project this summer, so I'll be able to brew for this. Are we serving out of jockey boxes?
I assume we'll have to pour samples for people, so jockey boxes seem like the solution, easy enough to transport.
We need a gator beer or two: Humboldt Gator Gose? Chance The Snapper Saison?
avocado gose for the alligator beer
So, Revolution already has a gator beer, and they are donating proceeds to West Town Bikes, very cool move on their part.
We are in the last week for getting a homebrew into production, so please consider helping us out so we have more CHAOS beers to share Sat Sep 7th!

The entertainment lineup is finalized, here's a post I did. After we get a beer list together, I can promote CHAOS on their main event FB page. I will also cross promote on our FB page.
How many more beers do you need? Thinking I could probably squeeze in a fruited berliner weisse
Alex, we're looking for a total of 12 beers, so please feel free to add your hack fraud.
It would be awesome to have more beer: we might need a backup if a brew isn't up to snuff, and the event runs from 2-10pm. We'd run out even with 24 cornies.
I was thinking we could start serving at 3pm and try to keep serving at least 4 hours, that would cover prime time. I'll see if the organizers are cool with us serving an hour after the first band goes on.
Ok I'm going to see if I can pull this off, but it might not come together. Don't count on me!!!!
Hey Gang, in a catastrophic Google Drive purge, I deleted our volunteer spreadsheet, my bad my dudes. For the most excellent people that have stepped forward to donate beer, I tried to recreate our list (link updated at top of thread).
Here's the new Beer & Volunteer signup sheet:

Anyhow, it was a great time to update the volunteer task list and get a discussion going on what it is going to take to pull this off — looks like we might have 12 beers, possibly 16!
Friday night prep would be best, please help me make sure we can serve beer in a field.
Saturday we need a vehicle to bring everything to Humboldt Park and back again. The first band goes on at 2pm, so I imagine they want us in early to setup and have everything in place. We need 6 PEOPLE to setup and break down the tents.
I will ask them if we can delay serving till 3pm, still concerned about running out before peak time, and it would be nice to have a lunch break before slinging beers for 4 hours.
I suspect we'll run out around 7pm, but I listed the serving slot from 3–8pm. Anyhow, once we run out, might as well pack up and get everything back to the brewhouse, unless you want to stay for the bands.
I still need to vet this with the event planners, let me know what you all think.
Down to brew for this and help work the event. For whatever reason GoogleDocs are now blocked by my company's network :/
I'll try signing in on my phone in a bit, but count me in.
I thought I would be able to help deliver, but I "got scheduled" for a baby shower, so I can't. Please drink a beer and think of me.
Steven - do we have a logistics plan for getting equipment to/from this event yet? I'd be more than happy to help setup & breakdown ... just curious how we're going to transport it all (especially after the event).
No, with Matt out we do not have a transportation plan. We need someone that can haul a 10x20 tent, two tables, jockeyboxes, kegs, and gas. If someone in the club doesn't do this, I'll need to look into renting a vehicle or hit up a friend for a huge favor. Can anyone help here?
We are clustered in with all the vendor tents, so we'll need to get there before the start time at 1pm to setup our spot (map below). I'm asking about vendor setup and parking.
Okay, we can park a vehicle in the boathouse lot during the event. My partner is willing to be a designated driver at the end of the day to get everything back to CHAOS.
Still need a vehicle, not looking forward to renting one.
I don’t have a car to offer unfortunately. But I can be available for loading and stuff. Would you want me there at the brewhouse around 11? Or meet you at humboldt at like noon?
Thanks Kevin, I think the driver and I should be able to load up. We could be forced to make a couple trips if we don't have a big enough vehicle. I just saw we have 13 kegs on the beer list – way to go guys!
Chuck offered to drive, but then I mistakenly got a text meant for Jennifer, "my car broke down... what's your eta?" Kevin from the band offered to help with his Suburu, and he lives crazy close by. I'll keep working on Plans A, B, C & D...
Noon would be a good target to meet up at Humboldt Park. The boathouse parking lot is where volunteers are entering, and there is a separate entrance for volunteers.
More info soon, I just got their vendor info packet yesterday
Okay, we need a volunteer list, here's what I got so far:
Steven Lane
Jef Whelpley
Jon Phillips
Brandon Kessler
Kevin Wilhelm
James Tsai
Chuck Mac
Missing anyone? Txt me ASAP: 312-504-7108
Oh snap, one of the West Town Bikes volunteers has a minivan and trailer and is willing to scoop us up around 10:30am (he needs to get there early for WTB setup.)
He's a homebrewer and longtime CHAOS fan; we should give him a free pass or two to our next coupla parties :D
Looks like everyone is providing a cold keg, I imagine keeping the beer iced will be a challenge with early delivery, but I can keep all the kegs together on ice in the van till we begin at Noon.
My counting sucks, but 12 kegs makes more sense than 13 :-]
Here's my idea for laying out the tent (image below), and I've organized the beers by which tap they will appear on. I will make four signs for each tap. As a beer kicks, we'll put the next one on as listed. If it looks like we're going to run out too fast, we could delay the release of the on deck beers.
For VIPs, PYTs, and Beer Nerds, it would be nice to offer special request pours of the on deck beers. I was thinking a floating picnic tap would do, or Jon's tap handle he uses for samples.
I'll see if we can sell tasting glasess.
Steven, can we sell merch at this? Also, anyway to get postcards to promote Halloween party / membership?
Great event, Steven. Thanks for setting it up!
