In case it wasn't clear, I wanted to let everyone know members are welcome to stop by for Open House this Saturday. We are hosting a party for the charity race CHIditarod. The keezer will be full of new beers to sample, and we'll have two kinds of chili on the stovetop (Sat Mar 23, 2-8pm).
I could use help hosting the event. There will be lots of new people coming through, and it would be great to have help answering questions and giving impromptu tours of the brewhouse. We also want to make sure no one is hitting the keezer too hard, like grabbing a liter glass and filling it to the brim (one of my peeves).
I would like to do a stein bier, and I could really use some help. We would need to get a fire going before we mash to heat granite stones white hot, then we start the boil by dunking the hot rocks into the wort. After a few dunkings we take the beer inside to finish the boil and add hops.
Holler if you can help out Saturday, thanks!
I think we really should get a crew there and make all the S+CN hay go away before having any fires behind the brew house
The hay is really stuck to the ice, a friend and I tried to clear some Saturday and it was a pain in the ass. We even tried to do a controlled burn, but the fire fizzled out really quick without putting much of a dent in the hay.
It should be easier to remove when the ice melts. It would be super helpful to have an iron rake.
